Racing anime are known for thrill and a greater focus on characters. So many things happen ‘behind’ the race and ‘in’ the race that keeps you excited. Among these, car racing anime like Initial D and Capeta are quite popular.
Overtake! is an upcoming original anime project that also involves F4 car racing. It was originally announced in January and now we have a few more details to share.
On Wednesday, Kadokawa and TROYCA revealed additional staff members, along with a new promo video and visual. Overtake! will be released in October this year.
The video mainly shows a race, with Haruka Asahina getting ready in the beginning and Kōya Madoka exploring the place. We also get a look at the newly-introduced characters like Tokumaru and Komaki, who seem to be arguing.

The racing sequence was reminiscent of Capeta, although with a higher-quality animation. Not many anime are based on this theme, so I want to see what this one has to offer.
About Overtake!
Overtake! is an upcoming original anime by Kadokawa and Troyca, based on the motorsport, Formula 4 or F4.
It follows Haruka Asahina, a quiet high school student and F4 driver driving for Komaki Motors. He also works part-time as a newspaper delivery and does not like to take help.
One day, Haruka encounters Koya Madoka, a freelance photographer who used to be a renowned photojournalist but fell into a slump because of a certain reason. Koya couldn’t find inspiration till he meets Haruka and the two begin working towards the latter’s dream of a podium.
