Orb: On the Movements of the Earth Anime Reveals New Info with Latest Trailer

On Thursday, September 5, 2024, the official website for Orb: On the Movements of the Earth anime shared the full promotional video and announced the main staff and worldwide streaming on Netflix for the anime. Additional information about the cast and the official premiere date was also revealed.

The anime’s first two episodes will be broadcast consecutively as a double-length premiere on NHK General TV in Japan on the premiere day. And after each episode airs, it will also stream worldwide on Netflix.

Orb: On the Movements of the Earth anime has revealed a new trailer, along with announcing the main staff and worldwide streaming on Netflix. Studio MadHouse is animating, and the first two episodes will premiere together on October 5. It will streamed on ABEMA after the regular broadcast in Japan, while Netflix will stream it worldwide.

Translation: The TV anime will start on NHK General TV on October 5th. The first two episodes will be broadcast consecutively. Additional cast members will be added.

The new trailer also introduces the theme songs. Rock band Sakanaction performs the opening theme song “Kaiju,” while the rock duo Yorushika performs the ending “Aporia.” The soundtrack music is by Kensuke Ushio (Chainsaw Man).

Plot Details

Set in the fifteenth century, Orb: On the Movements of the Earth anime paints a vivid picture of an era where the geocentric theory reigned supreme. Those who dared to believe in the heliocentric theory were not just ostracized, but also subjected to abuse and torture, a brutal reality that the anime brings to life.

However, Rafal, a child prodigy, is not deterred by the harsh reality. His curious mind and thirst for knowledge lead him to develop a keen interest in the heliocentric theory when he learns the truth from his mentor, Hubert. The child’s inquisitive mind propels him to embark on a journey to discover his mentor’s research.

Cast And Crew

Kenichi Shimizu, known for his work on Parasyte – The Maxim, will direct this new anime series at anime studio Madhouse. He will be working on the project alongside series composer Shingo Irie, who has previously worked on Hakata Mentai! Pirikarako-chan, character designer Masanori Shino, music composer Kensuke Ushio, and sound director Kisuke Koizumi.

Katsuyuki Konishi stars as Oczy, a champion fighter who’s scared of looking at the sky. Yuichi Nakamura, famous for voicing Satoru Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen, lends his voice to Badeni, a monk who seeks the purest knowledge. Saya Hitomi also joins the voice cast as Yolenta, an astronomy researcher.

‘Orb: On the Movements of the Earth’ (Chi: Chikyū no Undō ni Tsuite) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Uoto. It was serialized in Shogakukan’s seinen manga magazine Weekly Big Comic Spirits from September 2020 to April 2022. An anime adaptation produced by Madhouse is set to premiere in 2024.

15th century Poland—a time when heretical ideas led those who possessed such a mindset to be burned at the stake for their beliefs. Rafal, a child prodigy, is expected to major in theology at university, the most important subject at the time. However, one day, he meets a mysterious man and begins researching a potential “truth” amid heretical ideas!
