Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Episode 5 Recap
The episode starts with a flashback of Oliver’s famous murder mystery parties. Will remembers the parties as a child and that his father tucked him back into bed when he snuck out one night.
In the present, Charles visits Jan in jail to see if she knows anything about Bunny’s killer. Jan also dismisses Nina as a suspect and speculates that the killer is an artist of some sort.
Meanwhile, Mabel goes through the passageways again and comes across a new clue—a matchbook from the local diner. She later agrees to let Alice host her gallery event at her apartment. The matchbook has a red blotch on the back, which could possibly be blood. Oliver and Charles invite themselves to Alice’s party.
Oliver is immediately suspicious of Alice and can tell that she’s hiding something. He decides to uncover whatever that is by playing the murder mystery game with all the guests.
As the game progresses, only Alice, Mabel, and Oliver are left to be the murdered Son of Sam. Oliver guesses incorrectly and ends up humiliating Alice when she’s forced to confess that she doesn’t come from wealth. But in the closing moments of the episodes, we see the Son of Sam card tucked away in Alice’s bag.
