Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Episode 2 Recap
The episode starts with a narration of the Arconia and Bunny’s history. Bunny’s grandfather was the original architect of the building. Flash forward to the 1950s, we see a young Charles visiting the Arconia with his aspiring actor father for an “audition” he had in the building. In the present, the trio examines the Rose Cooper painting Charles’ father had modeled for and speculates on his relationship with the painter.
As they lift the painting off the wall, they notice an inscription on the back of the canvas that says ‘savage.’ Mabel reveals that ‘savage’ had been one of the last things that Bunny had said to her before she died, other than the number fourteen. While they’re in the middle of trying to decide what to do with the painting, Howard arrives and invites them to Bunny’s memorial.
The three of them decide to go to the memorial to put the painting back in Bunny’s apartment by using the secret elevator.
At the memorial, Bunny’s mother arrives, claiming the painting was originally hers. Their plan to put back the painting fails when the memorial ends sooner than they expected, and so the three of them hide the painting next to the dumpster. Oliver later discovers the painting in Amy Schumer’s house as she tells him she wants to create a series based on his podcast, where she plays Jan. Leonora goes to Amy’s apartment with the trio and reveals that the painting in her possession is fake.
