The Plot
The plot of The Sandman revolves around the adventures of Death’s brother, Morpheus, who escaped after being imprisoned for 105 years. Morpheus is also the King of Dreams and one of the seven Endless.
He was imprisoned in 1916 after being captured in an occult ritual. After being imprisoned for so many years, he decided to return to his kingdom Dreaming and restore order. He also decides to retrieve all his stolen artifacts which were taken from him after he lost power.
The makers have made some changes in the plot to adjust the story to modern times. For instance, Morpheus is imprisoned for 105 years in the series, but originally it was 75 years. Which is why the series begins in 2021 and not 1989 as per the comics.
The first season will be adapting “Preludes & Nocturnes” and “The Doll’s House”.
The Cast
The series is all set to feature an ensemble cast, with Tom Sturridge playing Dream, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer, and Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne.
Other members include Boyd Holbrook as The Corinthian, Charles Dance as Roderick Burgess, Asim Chaudhary as Abel, and Sanjeev Bhaskar as Cain.
Netflix also revealed the entire cast, with several actors playing important supporting characters. Check out the tweet below.
In September 2021, Netflix revealed the first look of the series at its TUDUM event. The first look got immense hype as it managed to impress the original fan base quite a bit.
There’s also a new teaser for us to look out for.
Hopefully, in the coming weeks, we will get more such promotional material including trailers and promos, along with new posters.
