One Piece x Food Wars Crossover Anime Special

Food wars ended its third season with a major cliffhanger, leaving fans hungry for more. A one-shot titled Shougeki no Sanji was released earlier as a One Piece x Food Wars crossover and got positive feedback from fans. Turns out, the one-shot is getting an anime adaptation soon.

Yuto Tsukada, the creator of Food Wars,in an interview with Shonen Jump, disclosed that One Piece x Food Wars is planning a crossover anime. “The fan reaction to the chapter was strong as well. We did get some comments from fans that this wasn’t the Sanji they imagined. Still, most fans were happy and wanted to see a continuation,” said Tsukada. Apparently, Yuto Tsukada ran into Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece at a work party. “When we saw Oda-sensei at the New Years’ party, he told us he was delighted with it. That was when he said that they’re making an anime version of it. Now the two editors of the series are in a bind since the companies working on the two projects are totally different.”

There has been no news so far regarding the specifics of the special; however, Oda is quite adamant about seeing this project through. There’s going to be a collaboration between the studio houses of One Piece (Toei Animation) and Food Wars (J.C. Staff) for this project, with details on the lead being unclear. It may not be a pleasant compromise, but the fanbase for Food Wars and One Piece has put their faith in Oda to make it happen and is eager to watch the result.
