One Piece’s celebration for reaching 100 volumes is a bit larger than life. Manga and real life come together in an unbelievable synergy to create the We Are One live-action project.
We Are One is a collection of short live-action movies streamed on One Piece’s Youtube account.
The first part of the shorts collection was released on August 30, 2021, and there will be five films in total. The final one will be released on September 3.
These films create a link between the manga and readers of the series and show how One Piece contains bits and pieces of everyday life.
Of course, all the links to the films will be provided right here.
The first movie shows two individuals whose opinions don’t always match, but they very much need each other. Just like Zoro and Sanji, they unite when they realize the other’s importance.
After this second movie, One Piece has once again won my heart, as it shows all the strong women characters of the series and how they empower a woman to take up her dreams.
A kid who suffers from loneliness after school transfer finds solace and friendship in a teacher. How will he deal with the parting? The story is beautifully linked with that of Law.
The latest addition to the shorts focuses on two girls who do ballet and are rivals. Yet, no matter how much the rivalry causes friction, they never want to leave each other’s sides.
As I await the fifth and final installation of the collection, the new theme song in the films has won over my heart.
RADWIMPS has proven its place in the music and anime industry with its theme song, Twilight, which accompanies all the short films.
While watching the films, I have felt overwhelmed with emotions multiple times. With this huge commemorative project, I cannot wait for other future works from One Piece as well.
About One Piece
One Piece is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine since July 22, 1997.
The man who had acquired everything in this world, the Pirate King, is Gol D. Roger. The final words he said at the execution tower were “My treasures? If you want it, I’ll let you have it. Look for it; I left all of it at that place.” These words sent many to the seas, chasing their dreams, headed toward the Grand Line, in search of One Piece. Thus began a new age!
Seeking to be the greatest pirate in the world, young Monkey D. Luffy also heads toward the Grand Line in search of One Piece. His diverse crew is joining him along the way, consisting of a swordsman, marksman, navigator, cook, doctor, archaeologist, and cyborg-shipwright, this will be one memorable adventure.
