One Piece Manga Reveals Previous Owners Of Barrier & Clone Devil Fruits

One Piece introduced the concept of devil fruits from the first chapter of the series.At the end of the Punk Hazard arc, it was revealed that once devil fruit users die, the spirit of the fruit goes to the nearest fruit of the same type.

This made sense, and it was seen for the first time when Ace’s Mera Mera no Mi (Fire Devil Fruit) was shown during the Dressrosa arc.

One Piece’s 969th chapter, “Fool of a Lord,” revealed the previous owners of the Bari Bari no Mi (Barrier Devil Fruit) and Mane Mane no Mi (Clone Devil Fruit) – Kurozumi Semimaru and Kurozumi Higurashi respectively.

The Mane Mane no Mi belongs to Bon Clay in the present story line. Bon Clay was introduced during the Alabasta arc as a part of the Baroque Works. The chapter revealed that Kurozumi Higurashi, one of Orochi’s minions, was the owner of the Mane Mane no Mi. It is interesting how both times this fruit was included in the series; it was used to shame a ruler into overthrowing his kingdom.

The Bari Bari no Mi belongs to Bartolomew in the present story line. He was introduced during the Dressrosa arc as a huge fan of Monkey D. Luffy.
