After the successful run of the first season, Netflix’s One Piece Live Action is gearing up to release season 2 in 2025. The live-action adaptation of the popular manga One Piece by Elichiro Oda was well received, and Netflix has officially announced the release window for the next season.
The filming of the second season of One Piece Live Action is scheduled to begin in June 2024 in Cape Town, South Africa. The show is speculated to be released in late summer 2025 and will pick up from where the first season ended.
What Can You Expect From Season 2?
In the second season of One Piece Live Action, the Straw Hat Pirates will continue their epic journey, sailing closer to uncharted territories. Their path will lead them to the dangerous waters of the Grand Line, a continuation of the story that fans eagerly await.
Season one hinted at the debut of Smoker the White Hunter, so we can look forward to his introduction to the series. If the series remains canon-compliant, it will be interesting to see Tony Tony Chopper coming to life.
What Changes Should You Look Forward to in One Piece Live-Action Season 2?
Excitingly, the creative team of One Piece Live Action will be enriched by Joe Tracz’s addition as the co-showrunner, joining forces with Matt Owens. Tracz, known for his work on Percy Jackson and the Olympians, brings a fresh perspective to the series, adding to the anticipation for the upcoming season.
Tracz, who has also worked on A Series of Unfortunate Events, says, “I’ve been lucky to work on big adaptations of several beloved series, and they don’t come bigger or more beloved than One Piece.” Tracz continues, “I’m a huge fan of Oda-san’s incredible imagination, and I was blown away by what the live-action team created in Season 1. So, it’s a dream and a joy to come aboard the Going Merry as it enters the Grand Line for an even more giant Season 2.”
