The official YouTube channel for the One Piece franchise announced that the One Piece Film Red anime will end its run in Japanese theaters on January 29.
One Piece Film Red released in theaters on August 6 and the film has become the franchise’s highest-selling and highest-earning film installment, in terms of both the number of tickets sold and yen earned at the box office.
The film topped Japan’s box office for 2022 by earning a whopping 18.78 billion yen as of December 25. The film has sold about 13 million tickets. The film is currently the sixth all-time highest-earning anime film and ninth all-time highest-earning film in Japan.
The film was released by Crunchyroll in the United States and Canada on November 4, and in Australia and New Zealand on November 3.
The film focuses on a new character named Uta, who is Shank’s daughter. The character is voiced by Kaori Nazuka and Ado voices the character for the songs. The film’s theme song “Shinjidai” is also performed by Ado.
The film’s director is Goro Taniguchi and screenwriter is Tsutomu Kuroiwa. The creator of the One Piece manga Eiichiro Oda served as the executive producer for the film.
