One Piece Episode 980: Release Date, Speculation, And Watch Online

One Piece Episode 979, titled “Good Luck?! Leader Kin’emon’s Plot!” aired this week.

Last time, we saw Luffy, Kid, and Law fight over who could bring down the most warships. Kyoshiro arrived with his men and ended up taking down Kaido’s men, confusing everyone. 

In episode 979, Kyoshiro revealed himself as Denjiro to Kin’emon and the others. Not just that, he had even come with 1200 additional men to join the battle.

The rest of the allies arrived too. He praised Kin’emon for slyly altering the plan so the spy would pass on the wrong message to Orochi.

1. Episode 980 Speculations and Discussions

One Piece Episode 980 is titled “A Tearful Promise! The Kidnapped Momonosuke!”

Concerning the preview at the end of episode 979, Momonosuke will be taken away by Kanjuro to be presented to Orochi for his execution. 

However, as the future Shogun of Wano, Momonosuke will endure everything and patiently wait for his friends and retainers to rescue him instead of begging and crying. 

I think Momonosuke will act in a way befitting the future Shogun as taught so by Luffy back in Zou. On the contrary, he will encourage everyone to give it their all and defeat Orochi and Kaido for good.

Sanji can use his Sky Walk to catch upto Kanjuro and Momonosuke, but I know the suddenly-good-at-drawing Kanjuro will somehow create obstacles for him and escape from his clutches.

Episode 980 of the One Piece anime, titled “A Tearful Promise! The Kidnapped Momonosuke!”, has been released on Sunday, Jun 27, 2021.

No, One Piece is not on break this week. Episode 980 is set to air as scheduled. No delay has been announced.

3. Recap of Episode 979

Episode 979, titled “Good Luck?! Leader Kin’emon’s Plot!” starts off with Kyoshiro arriving at the scene and attacking Kaido’s men, confusing everyone present. 

Kyoshiro states that he and the 200 men from his family are ready to fight with the Samurais against Kaido and Orochi. 

Kin’emon and the others are unable to gauge his true intentions. That is when, Kyoshiro reveals himself as Denjiro to the Akazaya Nine by mentioning a story only Oden, Kin’emon, and he knew. 

The Akazaya Nine are delighted to have Denjiro back in their ranks. Denjiro even mentions that he has an additional 1000 men at his command after releasing them from prison to make things even better. 

Denjiro praises Kin’emon for misdirecting the spy in their ranks by providing the inner circle with false information. 

Instead of saying Port Habu as the rendezvous point, Kin’emon mentioned Port Tokage, completely misdirecting the spy who gave away false information to Orochi.

Kin’emon admits not to have done this on purpose. It was out of pure luck that this worked out in their favor. However, this means that with the additional 1200 men from Denjiro, the Samurais have a banging of 5400 men on their side. 

Although most of it was due to luck, everyone is proud to have Kin’emon as their leader and cannot wait for him to command them. 

Kanjuro realizes that he could not stop anything, and the Samurais, along with Luffy and the others, will raid Onigashima. He hurries to inform Orochi about this new development and proceeds to take Momonosuke with him. 

Kawamatsu attacks Kanjuro to prevent him from escaping. However, Kanjuro evades his attack and sits on top of the bird he drew with his Devil Fruit powers.

The episode ends with Kanjuro escaping through the sky to reach out to Orochi. He has also kidnapped Momonosuke with him, who Orochi will most likely execute upon arrival.
