‘One Piece Day’ 2023 Event Commences with Film Screening & More!

The endless and ever-expanding sea adventure of Straw Hat Pirates has kept us going for decades. ‘One Piece’ has a simple plot when you look at it as a young pirate searching for a hidden treasure. The journey is where things become complex over time.

‘One Piece Day’ is an annual event held for the ‘One Piece’ franchise on July 22. The day was acknowledged by the Japan Anniversary Association in 2017.

On Monday, Bandai Namco, Shueisha, and Toei Animation confirmed that they will hold ‘One Piece Day’ once again this year. It will be a two-day event that will take place on July 21 and July 22 at the Tokyo Big Sight convention center. The event will also be live streamed on YouTube.

The announcement video gives a quick overview of the events that will be held. You can apply for a free ticket (electronic ticket), although you would still have to pre-register for the event.

The seats are limited (600 for Day 1 and 7000 for Day 2), and tickets will be allotted by lottery if the applications exceed the capacity.

For Day 1, a special screening of the film ‘Once Piece Film Red’ will be held in the evening. The event will be a ‘cheering screening’, which means that the audience is allowed to shout and cheer.

Day 2 will have multiple events, including a ‘special stage’ with cast members. Fans can expect new announcements and content reveals on this day. A live tournament, called ‘One Piece Bounty Rush’ will also be held where 16 teams will aim for the top.

One Piece is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine since July 22, 1997.
