One Piece released chapter 984 on Monday, titled “My Bible.” So, it’s time to discuss the release date, scans, and other details for chapter 985.

1. Chapter 985 Speculations/Predictions

Chapter 984 ended with Yamato’s identity reveal. As it turns out, Yamato is Kaido’s daughter and carries on the will of Kozuki Oden. We also find out that Yamato met Ace during his visit to Wano. The next chapter will probably show us a short flashback of Ace’s visit to Wano.

I. Ace’s Flashback

During the Paramount War, we found out that Ace had been to Wano. During the first act of Wano, we found out that Tama had met Ace during his stay in Wano. And now, we find out that Kaido’s “Son” had also been in contact with Ace.

This could be a great time to switch into flashback mode and watch Yamato narrate Ace’s visit to Wano for Luffy. This will shed some light on their relationship, and the reason why Whitebeard hadn’t helped Oden during the turmoil in Wano.

II. Yamato

Yamato’s face was seen for the first time in this chapter. He claims to be Luffy’s ally and he says that he has waited for Luffy “all this time”. It will be very exciting to see what Oda has in store for us when it comes to Kaido’s family.

III. Kaido’s Big Announcement

During chapter 980, Kaido’s assistant, a Flying Squirrel smile user, reminded Kaido of an important announcement he needs to make. Kaido says that everyone needs to wait before he announces it otherwise people will get confused.

Shortly before the Reverie arc, Oda mentioned a “Lurking Legend” in an interview. While he may have been talking about Emu-sama, it is possible that he meant Rox, the captain of the Rox pirates.

With Kaido and Big Mom’s new alliance the announcement likely has something to do with Rox and the return of the Rox pirates. In my opinion, nothing except the return of their former captain can bring these two Yonko together.

Momonosuke is currently about to be executed in the Performance Floor of Onigashima’s Skull Dome. Nami and her group are already on the way, and it is likely that others will find their way to the location shortly. This will serve as a way to spread the word about Kaido’s big announcement as well.

2. Chapter 985 Raw Scans, Leaks & Spoilers

Raw scans for the Chapter 985 of the One Piece manga were released recently.

The upcoming chapter will reveal to us Kaido’s new Onigashima Project. Apparently, he plans to make Yamato the leader of Wano. Alongside Big Mom, he wants to find the One Piece and wage war on the entire world using the ancient weapons.

The scans also show that Kanjuro will face off against the remaining Red Scabbards with the help of Kaido’s forces. During the skirmish, Kiku goes into a 1v1 against Kanjuro. We see her blade covered in blood at the end of the chapter, but its not certain what it implies.

The chapter ends with Kaido cutting off Orochi’s head because he thinks Orochi has been useless from the start. It is not confirmed if Orochi is dead, since his devil fruit allows him to create multiple heads. However, it seems unlikely that Orochi’s story would end this way.

The scans also announce that the manga is on break for chapter 966 due to a Shonen Jump holiday.

Chapter 985 of the One Piece manga will be released on Sunday, July 19, 9:30 am PDT. The title for the upcoming chapter has not yet been released.

In the next chapter, we will be shown either Kaido’s announcement after everyone converges to the execution scene, or a short flashback of Ace’s visit to Wano.

The chapter starts with Ulti and Page One recovering after Yamato and Luffy knocked them out. After Ulti gets up, they chase after Luffy and Yamato, who are fighting amongst themselves. Luffy realises he has no time to waste right now and resists Yamato talking to him, however Yamato convinces Luffy to talk to him for 5 minutes in a secluded location.

Back at the Performance Floor, the rebellion army (including Robin and Jinbei) has successfully infiltrated the crowd. They watch Momonosuke being attached to a crucifixion stand, while waiting for a chance to rescue him. Kaido walks in with the calamities and talks about making an announcement regarding an “Onigashima Initiative.”

Law’s ship reaches the rear end of Onigashima Island and they reach landmass using Law’s abilities. Nekomamushi, Izo & Marco arrive at the same time using Marco’s devil fruit to fly.

In the attic of the Castle, Yamato reveals his identity to Luffy. Yamato is actually Kaido’s daughter and carries on the will of Kozuki Oden. She saw Oden’s legendary execution and admired him greatly.

She came across Oden’s logbook in Kuri’s ruins and has taken on the name – Kozuki Oden to reopen Wano’s borders. The chapter ends with Yamato saying that Luffy reminds her of Ace.
