In an effort to implement social distancing, Shueisha postponed the 21st issue of its Weekly Shonen Jump and decided to release a combined 21st + 22nd issue on April 27. This meant a delay for not one or two, but all manga titles currently published in the weekly magazine.
For One Piece readers, there’s some sad news. Chapter 978 released recently, state that the manga will be going on a one-week hiatus after the combined 21st + 22nd issue.
This hiatus is because of the Golden Week about to take place in Japan.
One Piece chapter 978 came out on April 26. The chapter introduced us to all of the members of the Tobi Roppo(Flying Six Headliners).
As expected, most of their names are based around the card game theme, including names of British, Hungarian, and Japanese card games.
The names of all six members are:
- “Trick Attack” Ulti
- “Go-Getter” Page One
- “Kijin” Gong Zhu
- “Benevolence” Black Maria
- “Red Flag” X Drake
- “Last Rush” Sasaki
Ulti, Gong Zhu, Black Maria, and Sasaki are names of famous card games from Hungary, China, the UK, and Japan.
Two of the members of Tobi Roppo are very attractive females. This possibly hints at Nami and Robin receiving one-on-one fights during this arc. This will be a perfect chance for them to show off their upgraded powers.
On the other side of the media, One Piece’s anime has been indefinitely postponed due to production issues caused by COVID-19.
@OPcom_info, the official account for One Piece, tweeted out that the episode release is being stopped for the foreseeable future. The announcement also mentioned that older episodes, starting episode 892, will be broadcasted in the One Piece time slot.
