The adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his crew in search of the legendary treasure – One Piece, have been serialized chapters for over two decades.
This 900+ chapter series is often regarded as the King of Manga because of it being the highest-grossing manga the last decade.
One Piece released chapter 977 on Monday, titled “The Party’s Off!!.” So, it’s time to discuss the release date, scans and other details for chapter 978.

One Piece Chapter 978 will release on Sunday, April 26. The title for the upcoming chapter will be “Tobi Roppo Introduction”. In the next chapter, we will probably be introduced to all of the Tobi Roppo.

No, One Piece chapter 978 was on a break last week. But it will continue on 26th April in the combined 21st and 22nd issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump.

3. Chapter 978 Raw Scans, Leaks & Spoilers
One Piece chapter 978 raw scans were released recently. The upcoming chapter will introduce us to all of the members of the Tobi Roppo.
As expected, most of their names are based around the card game theme, including names of British, Hungarian and Japanese card games.
The members of the Tobi Roppo are – “Trick Attack” Ulti, “Go-Getter” Page One, “Kijin” Gong Zhu, “Benevolence” Black Maria, “Red Flag” X Drake, and “Last Rush” Sasaki.
Ulti is revealed to be Page One’s sister. The raw scans also show Kaido asking Sasaki how he feels about one of his family members working for the enemy.
The chapter, however, does not mention which member of the rebellion alliance Kaido is referring to. One Piece will be on break for 1 issue after the chapter releases due to the Japanese Golden Week.
4. Chapter 978 Speculations/Predictions
Chapter 977 ended with the Flying Six or Tobi Roppo arriving in Onigashima for the banquet. The upcoming chapter will likely start by revealing the identities of the 4 remaining members of the Tobi Roppo.
THE TOBI ROPPO
The Tobi Roppo is the top six headliners in the Beast Pirates ranking directly below the All-Stars (King, Queen & Jack). So far the members of the Tobi Roppo we know are – X-Drake (Captain of SWORD & former Supernova) and Page One. In the panel where we see the Tobi Roppo walking in, 4 feet designs are highlighted – one of which belongs to X-Drake.
The person wearing high heels and donning a fur coat is likely a woman. The person walking in front of the group has fancy shoes and is probably similar to Rob Lucci in the CP9. The one wearing wooden sandals and donning a sword is a samurai.
Since Kaido’s top tier crew members seem to be following a card-based theme (King, Queen, Jack, X, One), likely, the remaining members will also have names themed around playing cards.
KAIDO’S SON
On the final page of the chapter, it is confirmed that Kaido has a son, which brings up the question – why was Kaido’s son not mentioned before?
If Kaido’s son was strong, he would have been part of his crew. His not being mentioned so far hints at him being a disappointment for Kaido.
What supports this further, is the panel on page 16 where we see a silhouette of a dragon being made fun of because he can’t hold his barrel to drink.
That dragon is not Kaido, and other panels contain characters of high importance so it is very likely that the silhouette is of Kaido’s son.
5. Chapter 977 Plot
The chapter starts with Jinbei reuniting with the Strawhats, completing their crew. Everyone is excited to have him on board as a Nakama, not only because of his fearsome Fishman Karate skills but also because he maneuvers Sunny-Go.
The commander for the Mink tribe is Shishilian and the commander for Wano’s samurai is Hyogoro of the Flower.
As everyone discusses the strategy of the battle, the Strawhats venture forth and casually defeats all of the guards at Tori Port. They begin to celebrate with booze that Zoro found. However, Luffy changes his mind and decides that they’ll have the biggest banquet after they take down Kaido’s and Big Mom’s crew.
The chapter then transitions to the banquet in Onigashima. Kaido is seen drinking and eating with the Queen, calling for his son. The Flying Six, Kaido’s strongest crew members arrive as the chapter ends.
6. Chapter 977 Cover Page
Apart from the main story line in the manga, One Piece also advances the story line by featuring scenes from around the world in the form of cover stories.
Chapter 977’s cover continues the Gang Bege’s OH MY FAMILY cover story, we see Lola and Chiffon reuniting which makes it clear that the perspective switched in chapter 966 where Lola (assumed to be Chiffon) is arrested by the Marines for being Bege’s wife.
Chiffon was safe and sound this entire time, and the entire chase was about Lola, not Chiffon.
