One Piece recently released the 969th chapter of the series, titled “Fool of a Lord.” This chapter briefly shows the five years after Oden’s return to Wano and leads up to his battle with Kaido, 20 years before the present storyline.
1. Chapter 970 Release Date
The next chapter of the series will be released on 2nd February. It will most likely continue the clash between Kaido of the Beast Pirates and Oden of the Wano.
2. Chapter 970 Speculation
Chapter 970 will most likely show us the “Hour of Legends,” as mentioned at the end of chapter 969. The chapter will continue the flashback and feature the fight between Kaido and Oden, leading up to his public execution.
3. Chapter 970 Raw Scans
One Piece Chapter 970 raw scans were leaked on 29th January. The upcoming chapter will show us the clash between Oden and Kaido.

4. Chapter 969 “Fool of a Lord” Plot
Chapter 969 continues Oden’s flashback and takes us through the five years after Oden’s return to Wano. Chapter 968 ended with Oden rushing off to Orochi’s castle to slay him, and chapter 969 picks up the fight where it left off.
Oden launches an attack on Orochi, however, he is saved by a devil fruit user, using none other than the Bari Bari no Mi (Barrier Devil Fruit, owned by Bartolomew in the present timeline). Orochi, upon being saved, shows Oden how he gained his power – the Mane Mane no Mi (Clone Devil Fruit, owned by Bon Clay in the present timeline). The scene is cut short and Oden is shown dancing naked in the streets of Wano, for so far unexplained reasons.
The chapter then takes us through 3 significant events –
- The death of Gol D. Roger
- The clash between the Gekko and Beast pirates
- The robbery of Ryuma’s grave.
Five years after Oden returns, Orochi targets Kuri to build a slew of weapon factories, and in the process kills Hyogoro’s wife and captures Hyogoro. This pushes Oden’s patience, and he finally decides to take down Kaido along with his retainers.
The Akazaya Nine or the Nine Red Scabbards take form as they prepare for the battle against the Beast pirates and Orochi.
5. Chapter 969 Cover Page Story
Chapter 969’s cover continues the Gang Bege’s OH MY FAMILY cover story, showcasing Gotti being defeated by the marines. Gotti was shown rushing to rescue Bege’s wife after the marines captured her.
