2. Recap of Chapter 1143 of One Piece
Chapter 1143 of One Piece begins with a worried Saul trying to stop the children mid-course, and Robin warns him not to touch them, as the thorns would injure him. He tried to stop them anyway and got hurt in the process. Meanwhile, part of Luffy’s crew, along with some of the Elbaph natives, realized what was going on and set on their ship to try and resolve the issue with the kids. However, mid-journey, they were struck by one of the children’s nightmares.

Meanwhile, we got to see St Sommers looking quite satisfied with his own work. He was especially happy to see parents clinging on to their children even when they were struck by thorns. The interactions between Sommers and Killingham confirmed their abilities: Killingham was responsible for having the children’s sleepwalk, and their dreams manifest, and the children had thorns generated around them as a result of Sommers’ ability.

The focus shifted back underground, where Loki was still trying to be aggressive. He was still forcing lightning out of Ragnir, and everyone realized that they’d have to stop Loki at all costs before he did something that couldn’t be undone. So Luffy struck Loki with his weakest attack and watched Loki collapse right after taking it. As they watched him fall, they confirmed his bluff and realized that Loki was really at death’s door due to the wounds that he had previously received.

Luffy didn’t want to see Loki die yet, so he begged Hajrudin to save Loki, at least until his wounds healed up, and asked him to decide what to do with Loki after he survived. They were in quite a dilemma, as they’d have to move him from the underground to have any actual treatment done, but there was no guarantee that no one would try to kill him out there. Finally, the chapter comes to an end after a tiny flashback of Loki and Hajrudin as kids, after which Loki tells Hajrudin that he wasn’t the person who killed their father.
3. Speculation of Chapter 1144 of One Piece
The latest chapter of One Piece ended at quite the cliffhanger, as Loki insisted that he wouldn’t do something as cruel as killing his own family. He made it seem almost as if he was being framed for this crime. However, considering how words coming from Loki’s mouth don’t pack much credibility, this information isn’t to be trusted yet. Chapter 1144 may likely go into a flashback in which Loki would explain the cause of their father’s death.
Besides this, the sleepwalking children in Elbaph is still an issue that needs to be urgently addressed. In the next chapter, we may get to see the remaining straw hats get up after the ship wreckage to help the kids out before they get taken away.
