One Piece Chapter 1124: Lilith reveals that Vegapunk satellites aren’t dead

The egghead war is finally over, and the arc has officially come to an end. Chapter 1123 of One Piece was quite the rollercoaster, where we got to see the pirates escaping from Egghead Island, and we also got to know a few more secrets that Dr. Vegapunk held on to.

The latest chapter of One Piece features the start of the Elbaf arc, one of the most awaited arcs in the story. The story isn’t in full swing, as they are yet to reach the Island. However, the chapter is still nothing short of exciting.

The Journey To Elbaf

The Straw hats were heading towards Elbaf. The atmosphere on the ship certainly wasn’t good, though. This was because Luffy was in the dumps because they didn’t fully succeed in the mission.

Their goal was to save Stella; however, she died, even after many sacrifices were made. Luffy’s sense of responsibility after becoming a Yonko made him feel horrible as he had let many people die.

Why The Vegapunks Aren’t Dead

After this, Lilith woke up, and suddenly showed a sudden understanding of the situation. She took a minute to burst out crying, and then she quickly switched gears and asked for food.

She then sees that the mood around Luffy is gloomy and tries to cheer Luffy up. She tells him that although all the Vegapunks had died (according to the humans’ concept of death) they were, in fact, alive. This was why she was quickly able to move on after crying.

So, the Straw hats technically did not fail in their mission as the Vegapunk’s are still alive. She told Luffy not to be sad, as Luffy had already fulfilled his promise.

The Vegapunks are still alive because their consciousness can be stored in punk records. As long as the bodies are remade, the consciousness can be transferred back into them. Hence, none of the Vegapunks have truly died.

After hearing this, Luffy suddenly feels a lot better and instantly switches to party mode. He starts munching on food and goes on a spiel about how he will be the one who finds the One Piece. Since Vegapunk said the one who finds the One Piece will be the one to rule the whole world, he declares that he will be the one to take that spot.

The Consequences of the Egghead War

The egghead war that just ended did not really have a clear victor. While the elders of the world government did wage war to eradicate Vegapunk, they let Lilith escape, and hence, they failed in their purpose. Regardless, the Island was completely destroyed for no apparent reason.

We got to see Akainu in this chapter, who came to check the status at egghead island. Kizaru answers to Akainu’s qualms here. He is clearly quite emotional in this chapter, a rare sight for him. The fact that his best friend was killed had taken quite a toll on him.

When Akainu accused him of doing a sloppy job, Kizaru got ticked off and lashed out at Akainu, telling him to come watch them do their jobs if he had enough time to sit and complain.

Very surprisingly, we got to see Akainu apologizing to Kizaru for his behavior after this.

A Mysterious Figure

Finally in the end of the chapter, when everyone was about to reach the Island, we see a silhouette of a mysterious person. From what he spoke, it seemed as if he was awaiting the arrival of the straw hats.

Although we can’t guess who this mysterious person is, he will certainly be contributing a lot toward the plot in the subsequent chapters. Stay tuned as Oda Eiichiro builds on this amazing arc and births a bigger masterpiece.
