The last few chapters have given us new Yonkos, new bounties, a new Admiral, even a new Straw Hat. The Ancient Weapon Pluton has cropped up again, Joy Boy has returned, and the 20-year Wano War has finally ended.
Chapter 1053 has probably been one of the most exciting chapters in the history of One Piece. Ryokugyu’s reveal has set the fandom’s teeth on edge while Buggy’s ascent to the Emperor title is a definite game-changer.
1. Chapter 1054 Raw Scans, Leaks, and Spoilers
The raw scans of chapter 1054 “Flame Emperor” have been leaked. Ryokugyu gatecrashes into the country and the Red Scabbards face him.
The marine’s devil fruit allows him to create and control vines around him and also turns him into a giant tree-like monster. As he causes trouble, Yamato and Momonosuke join the fray, with Yamato knocking him down at one point.
On the seas, Shanks’ pirate ship continues to sail. Shanks looks at the wanted poster of Luffy and looks amused. His crew expects that they will have a reunion with Luffy but Shanks has some other plans. At the table, he tells Beck that it is time they go for the One Piece treasure. Elsewhere, the Navy Admirals discuss the recent events, including the news of Sabo defeating Cobra.
Lastly, as the news spreads, the crowd is motivated by what Sabo did and cheer his name, calling him the ‘Flame Emperor’. The revolutionary army is gaining more followers as a result.
2. Is One Piece manga on a hiatus?
One Piece manga was on a one-month break because Oda needs to prepare for the final saga of this multi-decade long story. Chapter 1054 will released this week.
3. Chapter 1054 Release Date
Chapter 1054 of One Piece will be released on July 25, 2020, just 2 days after the 25th anniversary of the series, which is on July 22.
The manga will skip 4 issues of Shonen Jump starting June 27, and return in the 34th issue on the fourth Monday of next month.
4. Is Chapter 1054 the end of Wano?
Chapter 1053 was the end of the Wano arc. Chapter 1054 will begin the endgame, i.e., the final saga of the One Piece franchise.
When Oda announced on Twitter that he’d be going on break to prepare for the “final chapter”, we were all confused as to what he meant. But a poster was recently released saying that the final saga of One Piece will officially begin on July 25.
We know that a saga comprises of multiple arcs, but we don’t know how long the final saga will be or what it will be called.
The Yonko saga began way back in 2006 with the Zou arc, all the way up to the Wano arc. It is the longest saga in the series with 7 years of content, but I’m hoping the final saga lasts at least 10 more years. Wishful thinking, I know.
While we can’t be certain about how Oda will continue the story, we can make a calculated guess about which direction the series will go starting chapter 1054.
5. Chapter 1054 Predictions & Theories
It’s possible that the new arc picks up directly from where we left off, i.e., in Wano, or begin with one of the events outside Wano.
I. Continuation of Events in Wano
A) Admiral Ryokugyu
A full-blown battle doesn’t seem likely so soon after the end of the War and defeat of 2 Yonkos. But Ryokugyu is adamant about making Akainu proud and might decide to take the situation into his own hands.
Chapter 1053 ended with Oda revealing Ryokugyu’s face and a little bit of his personality. We know that his name is Aramaki, and that he yearns for Sakazuki/Akainu’s approval.
This makes me think Greenbull will go after Luffy just to prove a point.
Another likely scenario would be his fated meeting with Roronoa Zoro. You’ve probably already heard of the theory that Ryokugyu might be Zoro’s dad. This theory stemmed from the speculation that Ryokugyu was actually Shimotsuki Ushimaru and that Ushimaru is Zoro’s father.
But after Ryokugyu’s identity is revealed, we can say for sure that he and Ushimaru are not the same person. There is still the theory that Ryokugyu might be Ushimaru’s son, and that all 3 of them – Ryokugyu, Ushimaru, and Zoro, are descendants of the Sword God, Shimotsuki Ryuma.
B) The Revelation of What Pluton Is
Robin says that according to the Arabasta Poneglyph the location of Pluton is somewhere in Wano Country. Sukiyaki confirms this by saying, “Indeed, it is here.”
Chapter 1054 could reveal everything we want to know about Pluton, like where in Wano it is and what the heck it actually looks like. I’m really counting on Pluton appearing properly and screwing shit up for everyone next chapter.
C) New Bounties and News about Yamato
We currently only have Luffy, Kid, and Law’s new bounties, but I really want to know Sanji, Zoro, and the rest of the Straw Hats’ bounties for helping defeat the 2 Yonkos.
II. What’s Happening Outside Wano
Chapter 1054 could start by giving us a glimpse of one of the several mysteries we know nothing about, like what happened in the Reverie or why the Marine forces are stretched so thin.
Ryokugyu and Morgans confirmed in chapter 1054 that there is something big that is happening outside Wano. Greenbull says that “the outside world is a mess”. There are many possibilities of what happened.

- Shanks vs. Blackbeard
- Buggy Wreaking Havoc
A main theory how Buggy became a Yonko is that he’s done something insane outside Wano. He’s the reason the World Government has been complaining.
