Chapter 1042 of One Piece, titled “The Victor Needs no Epithet,” is the latest addition to the manga.
This chapter began with Drake defeating a CP0 agent. We then moved on to the battle between Kaidou and Luffy. It’s clear just how powerful Kaidou is because even in a drunken state, he’s still fighting Luffy like it’s nothing.
The Straw Hat’s blows are painful but not strong enough to defeat Kaidou. His determination to save the people of Wano is the only thing that keeps him going. As the chapter concluded, the CP0 agent from earlier held back Luffy from attacking, allowing Kaidou to crush the pirate below the weight of his weapon.

1. Chapter 1043 Discussions and Predictions
This chapter ended with a twist. The CP0 agent who was fighting Drake held back Luffy’s hands, preventing him from fighting Kaidou. This resulted in the pirate getting crushed beneath the weight of Kaidou’s attack.
We saw how this made Kaidou recall his fight with Oden. His expression shifted into a pained one, and I think it’s because he saw Luffy as an equal opponent. Kaidou did not want to cheat his way to victory, and this incident might bring him a change of heart.
This could also lead to Kaidou losing his mind because he was again denied the opportunity to fight a worthy opponent. The CP0 agent will be in a lot of trouble because even though he was ordered to kill Luffy by his organization, he can’t escape Kaidou’s wrath.

The spoilers of chapter 1043 have been leaked. The title is “Let’s Die Together” and marks a huge reveal – that Luffy is Joy Boy!!!. The CP0 agent has a farewell scene, suggesting that he is either dying or has died.
Kaido enters the castle, declaring that Luffy is dead and Momo has to give up. Kid and Law go to fight, thinking that Luffy was defeated. Nekomamushi and Carrot go to fight as well. Nami does not believe Kaido, calling him a snake and a liar. Kaido attacks her but she is saved by Marko.
Kaido says that he will fight until Momo gives up. Momo does not want anyone to die and decides to give in, but Yamato stops him. Zunesha interrupts them, driving their attention towards a sound. The elephant adds that it is the sound of ‘The Drums of Liberation’ – meaning that Joy Boy has returned. Luffy’s body seems to melt as he continues to smirk, indicating that something is happening to him.

The chapter resumes Drake’s battle against the CP0 agent. As he pushes his sword for a final blow, the agent asks Drake to explain himself. He simply states that this is what his justice tells him to do. The agent passes away after expressing his envy for his opponent.
In the Flower Capital, people are ready to release fireboats with their wishes attached to them. Meanwhile, Luffy and Kaidou continue fighting on the rooftop of Onigashima. Luffy’s continuous attacks overwhelm Kaidou, whose state is comparable to that of a drunk beggar.
Luffy is annoyed to see his enemy intoxicated during their fight and shouts at him angrily. Kaidou tells Luffy that he’s not the only one who can see the future and transforms into his dragon form.
He notices Luffy’s movements and decides to copy his attacks. The dragon then clasps the pirate between his teeth and springs into the air.
Luffy tries to wriggle out of his grasp but to no avail. Kaidou finally lets him out but uses his Blast Breath to throw Luffy to the ground. The attack makes him crash through the roof of the dome, down into the basement, and through the island’s surface, almost hitting Yamato and the others.
Luffy quickly stops himself using his Bounceman ability. Kaidou is still standing strong, and Luffy refuses to give up. He’s frustrated and calculates how much longer he can use his Gear Four form, saying that losing isn’t an option.
He tells Kaidou that as long as he’s around, the people of Wano will continue to suffer and jump towards the mighty dragon. Kaidou retaliates by saying that the people of Wano have already admitted their defeat. They’re weaklings who shun violence and find glory in death.
Luffy counters by defending the samurai, but Kaidou continues his mockery, asking Luffy if he’s strong or stubborn. He prepares to launch another Blast Breath, but Luffy uses his Gum-Gum Over-Kong Gun to attack first.
Kaidou enters a new persona, Bloodthirsty Drunk, and readies his Bagua for an attack. Luffy also prepares his one final blow, but just as he’s about to make contact with him, the CP0 agent who fought Drake appears behind him.
He holds back his arms, surprising Kaidou and making him remember his fight with Oden. He swings his Bagua, unable to stop mid-attack, and crumples Luffy beneath the weight of his weapon.
