4. Recap of Chapter 1020
Chapter 1020, titled “Robin vs. Black Maria,” starts off with Kaido telling Yamato that his Devil Fruit is extremely valuable and rare.
Kaido then tells Yamato how he expects him to abide by his rules and watch over Wano. He expects Yamato just to bear the fruits of the labor that has already been set in the process by Orochi.
However, Yamato has no intentions of doing as Kaido wishes. He expresses how he will wait for Luffy to come back and defeat Kaido and then plans on opening up Wano to the world.
Meanwhile, Robin comes across people from her past and seems to be very pleased. Brooke warns her that those are mere illusions. However, Robin claims that she already knows that and proceeds to destroy them.
Black Maria reveals herself and says how she is responsible for the illusions. She then proceeds to badmouth Sanji, who relied on Robin previously.
Although she did not show it visibly, Robin is angered by this and tells Brooke to take care of the rest while she handles Black Maria.
The chapter ends with Luffy recovering by eating more meat and requesting Momonosuke to transform into his dragon form and take him to Kaido.
