The raw scans for chapter 1048 have been released. Momonosuke regains his will and begins to push Onigashima in his dragon form. Kaido takes a new form – Flaming Drum Dragon, covering his dragon body in flames.
Both Luffy and Kaido prepare for their attacks – Luffy’s Gomu Gomu Bajrang Gun against Kaido’s Rising Dragon Blazing Bagua.
A flashback occurs, showing how Wano Country transformed into its current state. Kaido discovers that Oden has a son. He chases after Momonosuke and slays everyone standing in his path. The Wanokuni Daimyo confront Kaido and Orochi but they get defeated. Kaido then begins to enslave people.
Back in the present, Orochi, in his dragon form, is burning. He decides to take Komurasaki with him and rushes at her. At the last moment, Denjiro saves Komurasaki and decapitates Orochi in one single slash. Few panels show sky lanterns with wishes like “Please make Orochi disappear” and “Free us from this hell”. The final page shows Luffy and Kaido as they begin to charge at each other.

Luffy is going to use his final move in the next chapter, but I doubt the fight will end with his punch. There is so much hype as to what is going to happen next, as the attack Luffy is going to use in the next chapter doesn’t look anything small. It’s going to cause a lot of damage and destruction.

Momonosuke cannot make the flame clouds and is about to give up when he remembers an incident from his past where his mother tells him that he has to rebuild the strength of the Kozuki clan twenty years from then.
Kin’emon begs Momonosuke to take all this seriously and consider what his mother has to go through to make this decision and asks him to give them one more chance. Seeing Kin’emon’s determination, Momonosuke gets ready to do whatever has to be done.
Luffy throws the lightning strike he had grabbed, but Kaido escapes this attack. He throws Luffy away with his attack, claiming that abilities are not the only thing that will do the trick. He hits Luffy’s face hard with his weapon causing Luffy to fall.
He reveals that Roger didn’t have any devil fruit, and haki is the only thing that can transcend all. He sends Luffy flying up in the sky, but Luffy grabs him and doesn’t let him go. Kaido transforms into his dragon form.
In the city, people celebrate the festival by sending lamps up in the sky as the festival is ending. In the castle, Hyogoro tells everyone that the island has begun falling down, meaning that Kaido is losing.
He asks his fellow samurais what they would choose. Do they prefer Luffy winning the fight, making the island fall resulting in their deathl, or Kaido winning, ensuring their safety.
Everyone is ready to die there with Kaido. Usopp and Hamlet are running from the flames and are saved by Raizo’s water. On the Treasure Repository floor, Orochi gets rid of the Seastone nail and is now ready to take Hiyori with him to hell.
On the roof, Momo and Yamato are shocked to see that Luffy has turned his hand into a huge punch and is ready to hit Kaido, but he asks Momo to move Onigashima out of his way as this is going to be his final move against Kaido.
