Everyone who watches anime knows that a show has an opening theme and an ending theme for the series, but at one point, the ‘One Piece’ anime started featuring two-and-a-half minute-long opening themes while the ending themes were removed. The last ending shown in the One Piece anime was Adventure World, which aired in 2006 with episodes 264 to 278.
One Piece’s anime will be kicking off a new era with the climactic final moments of the Wano Country arc coming soon, and the anime will be featuring a new ending theme for the first time in 17 years as part of the grand celebration.
On Saturday, the One Piece Day 2023 livestream event revealed that the One Piece anime would have an ending theme song for the first time in 17 years. Instead, the anime featured an extra-long opening theme song at the time.
Chilli Beans, a three-member band, will play the new ending theme song “Raise.” The new ending theme will be released on August 6, and a portion of the song was previewed during the webcast event.
The event also revealed that SEKAI NO OWARI will sing the anime’s new opening theme song. The group claimed in a video that the new song is being worked on but is not yet ready.
During the live stream, fans were treated with a sneak peek at Luffy’s new Gear Fifth form, which heightened their thrill even more. The announcement has set the stage for an epic episode.
Tatsuya Nagamine’s excellent directing, together with the extraordinary work of animation by Midori Matsuda and Keita Saito, promises a visually spectacular treat for fans.
