The final Friday is upon us! The season finale for The Boys Season 3 will release on July 8, 2022, and the trailer has already hinted at two epic fights!
Season 3 of The Boys brought many twists into the mix and delivered them promptly and efficiently. Soldier Boy’s faked death, Billy and Hughie having powers, Annie’s dangerous discovery about V24, and the most recent being that Homelander is Soldier Boy’s son—showrunner Eric Kripke has wowed the fans with each episode in every way possible.
Black Noir has been on the mend after his allergic reaction in Season 2 that sent him into a coma. And not shortly after, the news of Soldier Boy being alive and on the hunt had Black Noir on the run.
Why? Soldier Boy is enacting his revenge upon his whole ex-team, including Noir, for handing him over to the Russians for years of torture. As soon as Noir knew Soldier Boy had escaped, just like he had feared all these years, Black Noir cut out his live tracker and ran into hiding.
But the penultimate episode, “Here Comes a Candle to Light You to Bed,” saw Noir making a tough decision—he has to get over it and see to some unfinished business. Buster and the gang, Noir’s animated imaginary friends, help him realize that he has lived in fear of Soldier Boy’s wrath for too long.
Soldier Boy was not his oppressor during his time in Payback but also the reason behind Noir’s disfiguration and inability to speak. The finale trailer shows Homelander advising Noir that even if he were to sharpen his sword for “a thousand hours, [it] still won’t cut Soldier Boy’s skin.”
The trailer also shows a suped-up Billy Butcher and Homelander going against each other. But whether Soldier Boy will still side with The Boys or not in Episode 8, “The Instant White-Hot Wild,” is now a question worth asking. Why?
In the final scene of Episode 7, Soldier Boy reveals a shocking fact to both Homelander and the audiences—Vought had used Soldier Boy’s genes to create Homelander, making Homelander his son! Will Soldier Boy, who had admitted to wanting kids at some point, back down from killing his son?
And this reveal will put Homelander in a bind too, or the child in him who has to deal with his insecure feelings about being unloved and thus might be wary of killing a father he just found out he had.
The show has shown his vulnerable child-like side multiple times, using scenes highlighting his milk fetish and the mirror scene where his reflection talks down to him as if he were a scared child desperate to be simply accepted as he is.
Who do you think will come out victorious after each fight? Black Noir or Soldier Boy? Billy Butcher or Homelander?
About The Boys
The Boys is an American satirical superhero streaming television series developed by Eric Kripke for Prime Video. Based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, which was originally published by DC Comics under their Wildstorm imprint before moving to Dynamite Entertainment, it follows the eponymous team of vigilantes as they combat superpowered individuals who abuse their abilities.
The show is a satirical take on the superhero genre and showcases a world where superheroes are corporatized and controlled by companies. What happens when these superheroes step out of line and rub some boys the wrong way, is the story.
