The popular coming-of-age Netflix comedy show on My Block is returning for its fourth and final season in October.
The time leap taken towards the end of the third season has done its part, as the preview for the fourth season makes the beloved friend group look completely different. Almost as if they are new characters.
On My Block revolves around a group of high school friends navigating through lives’ struggles in a predominantly Hispanic and black neighborhood. After three whole seasons, it now looks like the friends have chosen their destination.
In the stills released, Monsé (Sierra Capri) looks like a new, refreshing self as she sports a beaming smile, making fans sure that the private boarding school is doing her life good.
Jamal (Brett Gray) is now a jock on the football team and has gone from a lovable goofball to a man with a serious attitude.
Ruby (Jason Genao) seems to be campaigning for something and has undergone a new makeover. In one photo, Jasmine is seen wearing a t-shirt with Ruby’s picture and comforting him. This growing closeness is probably one of the top things that fans are unsure of.
This time, Cesar (Diego Tinoco) is the head honcho and the one in power. It also looks like he is back with Santos. On the other hand, his younger brother Oscar is seen expecting a baby.

The two years’ time jump clearly shows how it can make a world’s difference. The official synopsis for season 4 also warns fans of what’s about to come.
When a secret is unburied, they quickly learn you can’t run from the past, and they will need to stick together to survive.
Showrunner and co-creator Lauren Iungerich had talked about the young adult show being primarily Hispanic or Black, stating to EW,
I was just thinking about how the majority of inspirational and fun YA shows are all told through a white prism, and I just wanted to see a show where the heroes weren’t white.
Lauren Iungerich
Iungerich’s decision definitely paid off as fans can’t stop raving about their favorite squad coming back on screens. But as Netflix wrote in the caption, they’re coming back for one last time.
On My Block season 4 will premiere on Netflix on October 4, 2021, and will feature a total of 10 episodes.
