Making anime come to life beyond cosplay and conventions is something Japan does the best. Be it theme parks based on Naruto or Studio Ghibli classics, or food inspired by popular anime, you don’t find yourself as a mere watcher. Instead, you develop a deeper connection.
Makoto Shinkai’s ‘Suzume’ has become one of the highest-grossing anime films lately. However, being released a few months ago, there were no physical landmarks inspired by it until now.
The locations depicted in the movie ‘Suzume’ now have a landmark of their own – old doorways. A tweet by a fan, with the name of Kintetsu5820 shares in his tweet the locations where these are set up. This has turned them into popular tourist spots, some of which were otherwise remote.

It seems that the tourism association got on board with the Suzume no Toshimari blockbuster, the fact that only the door was placed abruptly without any explanation is faithful to the original, and I feel that the landowner’s permission was well obtained because of the subject matter. it’s not garish.
In the film, the doors play a central role and are scattered all across Japan – from the south in the Miyazaki prefecture to the north in the Iwate region. The Twitter fan also shared that the door goes well with the surroundings, giving a sense of fear.
As per The Mainichi, the door and the above tweet was set up on February 23 in a vacant spot in Miyako City. The identity of the craftsman was not revealed, but it was built with permission from the landowner.

The Yamada Town Tourism Association seems to have a deep love for the work, and there was a door at the observatory along Route 45.
The door weathering is more serious than Miyako’s, and if you look closely, the daijin (keystone) is placed behind the door, which is quite strong.
Another door was also set up on February 18 by The Yamada Town Tourism Association. The door, as seen in the tweet above is located at the observatory in Yamada town.
Orikasaeki Station also displays a few Suzume-inspired pieces, including framed pictures, posters, and the models of cats and the three-legged chair. The user also shared that the food in the area is good, so visiting the place will not disappoint you.

I am glad ‘Suzume’ is also manifesting itself in Japan in the way most anime classics have. The film has already broken many records to become immortal, and this was probably the last thing it needed to do.
