Do you remember Okami? The classic action-adventure 2006 title left a mark in everyone’s hearts for being a work of art. Some even called it “ahead of its time” which is more than true. After a long period of eighteen years, Okami is finally coming back.
Okami’s History Explained
Okami is an Japanese-style action-adventure game which was first released in 2006 for PlayStation 2. Over the years, it made its way to Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 3 and 4.
Something which made Okami stand out is its watercolor aesthetics and paintbrush design. It’s as if you are playing inside a painting and someone else is holding the brush. Back in the early 2000s, this unique style was a breath of fresh air and a break from pixels.
Even today, Okami is beloved by many.
Why is the Okami sequel such a big deal?
One of the reveals which took everyone by surprise at The Game Awards 2024 was the announcement for the Okami sequel.
Okami has developed a cult-like fan base since it was first launched in 2006. Even though it got splendid reviews, Okami did not sell enough units to stay in business.
