Imagine a world where animals are required to abide by the law and co-exist in peace. No, I am not talking about Beastars , it’s a new anime in this particular genre.
Pony Canyon has recently announced an anime that will revolve around the life of a middle-aged walrus, Kotokawa, who makes his living by driving a taxi.
Surprisingly, the boring and dull conversations with his everyday passengers, which should not have meant much, somehow lead him to a girl who has disappeared.
On Friday, the official YouTube channel for Odd Taxi anime revealed its second promotional video. The anime will be broadcasting on TV Tokyo and AT-X from April 2021. But before that, the cast will appear in an advanced screening on March 20.
Odd Taxi 2nd PV has been released. It takes us to a city which should be familiar, but there is the feeling of something being a little different.

The video takes us to the busy streets of the city where Kotokawa drives his taxi. His customers and their conversations are the only things that are ‘new’ in his boring life, so he never fails to pay his full attention.
But little did he knew that those ‘not so special’ conversations would lead him into a mysterious web of conspiracies. The video also reveals that there’s something fishy going on around the city filled with neon lights.
There’s a sudden onset of various criminal activities throughout the village, and the police are having a hard time finding out the person behind all these.
I feel that the background music has given a new dimension to the video and perfectly matches the mystery theme of the anime. Despite the childish animation, the video gives off a mature and deep vibe.

Crunchyroll announced during its Fifth Annual Anime Awards that it will stream the Old Taxi anime along with six other new anime this year.
Meanwhile, the official Twitter account for the anime has already revealed the designs of the main characters, along with a brief introduction of each of them.

He is an eccentric driver who doesn’t open his heart to anyone. There is also a serious and compassionate side. His hobby is to listen to Rakugo on the radio before going to bed.
The characters in the series produce so much depth and human-like emotions that you may even forget the fact that they’re animals.
It keeps us wondering about how similar this fictitious world may actually be to our own.

Kotokawa is a taxi driver who lives an ordinary life and as a slightly eccentric stranger who has no relatives nor any relations with other people, Kotokawa’s hobby is to listen to Rakugo on the radio before going to bed.
