Obi-Wan Star Promises Plenty of Star Wars Cameos and a “Thrilling Ride”

Obi-Wan Kenobi is just a little more than a month away, and as the anticipation rises, more cast and crew members involved with the series are teasing details about the new addition to the Star Wars lore.

The most recent is Rupert Friend, who plays the Grand Inquisitor in the Disney+ series. While the star made an appearance at the world premiere event for his latest Netflix series, Anatomy of a Scandal, he briefly spoke about his other big series, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

In an interview with Hey U Guys during the red carpet event, when asked about what he could reveal about Kenobi, Friend praised just how perfect Ewan McGregor is in the lead role.

He mentioned that McGregor’s portrayal of the character will be a “dream” for fans of the original films. Friend also added that the series will contain quite a few Star Wars cameos and Easter eggs,

“If it’s possible to be any more excited than folks already are, I would be. I think [the series] is one of the most thrilling additions to the Star Wars canon. I think Ewan McGregor is doing things with that role that is a dream for fans of the original films. You know, we can’t obviously have Alec Guinness back, but I just think Ewan was absolutely born to play that part. And wonderful cameos from people I obviously can’t tell you, but Easter eggs galore… Yeah, it’s a thrilling ride.”

As the story is set to take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope and before Star Wars: Rebels, there are endless characters who could appear in the series. Fans already know Hayden Christensen will be returning as Darth Vader to go up against his old pal once again.

According to what the trailer suggested, Friend’s Grand Inquisitor will be followed by an entire group set to annihilate the remainder of the Jedi Order.

There are speculations about the series having Clone Wars flashbacks, so it is possible for Captain Rex, Commander Cody, or a young Ahsoka to make a cameo. There’s also Liam Neeson’s Qui-Gon Jinn, whom fans have a “Will he? Won’t he?” guessing game going on about.

Would it be too obvious for Din Djarin to once again stop by in a Star Wars series? Maybe Lucasfilm might find a way to add him in the very last post-credit scene.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will premiere with its first two episodes on Disney+ on May 27. The remaining four episodes debut weekly on the following Wednesdays.
