The latest Star Wars TV series, Obi-Wan Kenobi, features Ewan McGregor, once again, as the beloved Jedi Master.
Set ten years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan Kenobi follows Obi-Wan in his darkest days hiding on Tatooine.
The Galactic Empire is still on the lookout for surviving Jedi from Order 66, including Obi-Wan Kenobi, a decade after Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) rose to power.
The series shows the struggles of the Jedi master as he has lost everything and is forced to stay low to keep an eye on the young Luke Skywalker.
His monotonous life comes to a halt when Princess Leia Organa gets kidnapped, forcing him to leave his hideout and rescue her.
Episode 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi primarily focuses on the rescue mission and attempts at escaping from Daiyu.
Obi-Wan Kenobi finally explains why Princess Leia and Han Solo decided to name their child Ben Solo.
Leia and Obi-Wan form a good relationship in their short time during the escape, and despite her suspicion that Obi-Wan has a secret identity, she is ultimately convinced of his allegiance.
It was during this experience that Obi-Wan made a lasting impression on Leia. Therefore, even after learning Obi-Wan’s real name, Leia saw him as Ben instead of Obi-Wan.
Inspired by this, she decides to name her son Ben Solo—after Ben Kenobi.
Leia is returned to Alderaan safely, where she learns more about Obi-Wan and his days as a noble Jedi. The name “Ben” began to symbolize hope for her, not just because of her experience with him, but also because of what he stood for, which explains why she turned to him for help once again in A New Hope.
Other than the explanation as to why Kylo Ren was named Ben Solo, Leia and Obi-Wan’s relationship in the show makes Leia’s plea for assistance even more meaningful.
Given her trust in him, Leia was confident Ben would not fail her during the burgeoning war against the Galactic Empire.
It, therefore, makes perfect sense for Leia to name her only son after the man who essentially saved her life twice.
The next episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi promises high-voltage drama as Vader is set to be reunited with his former master after ten years.
