As the RTX 40 series goes through the last development stage, specific changes are being made to the specs list. The new details revealed higher capacity, higher memory, and faster clocks.
Twitter user @kopite7kimi revealed the updated clock specs for NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4070 GPU.
The base clock for the RTX 4070 measures 2310 MHz, while the boost clock measures 2610 MHz. The GPU clock speeds are around 70-90 MHz faster than the flagship RTX 4090 model.
The maximum boost will be greater than the specified 2.8 GHz since NVIDIA’s official boost clock is lower than real-world clocks.
The predecessor to the 4070, the RTX 3070, had 700-900 MHz lower clock speeds, with a base clock of 1.5 GHz and a boost clock of 1.73 GHz.
The RTX 40 series has faster clock speeds than the RTX 30 GPUs. Higher clocks combined with more cores will enable 40 TFLOPS of computing power, that’s twice that of the RTX 3070 and equals the RTX 3090 Ti variant.
The RTX 4070 is designed to offer 50% of the performance and half the memory of the RTX 4090 model. The only thing not scaling the same way is the power consumption.
The only significant difference is the power consumption. The board limit for the RTX 4070 is 285W, 45W more than the RTX 3070.
Here are the updated specs for the RTX 4070:

NVIDIA is expected to launch the RTX 4070 GPU in Q4 this year.
