NVIDIA RTX 30 and AMD Radeon RX 6000 GPU Prices Have Stopped Falling

The prices of NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 30 series and AMD’s Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs had been falling for a while, but now it seems that price descent is coming to a halt. A recent stats report from 3DCenter shows that the graphics cards from both vendors are not falling in price anymore. But, instead of having returned to MSRP, they are still 50% over it.

We began to notice the fall in prices for the two vendors’ cards back in late May, after the boom in prices, which saw a 3X inflation over the MSRP. The recent crash of cryptocurrencies and an increase in GPU production helped with the decline of the GPU prices and bringing things back to normal.

But it seems it has witnessed a hard stop, as the cards from both vendors have not seen a further decline in prices this month.

According to the numbers, NVIDIA GPUs declined by 3% in price and are currently 50% over the MSRP, while AMD GPUs saw an increase of 3% and are now 56%. 3DCenter also reported that they had seen the same or slightly better availability of graphics cards. These are mainly comprised of NVIDIA variants and lower-tier AMD cards.

We can’t say what the next month will bring to the graphics card market, but no indicators point to a rise in prices. NVIDIA has been steadily increasing the production of its Ampere GeForce RTX 30 GPUs since the end of Q1 2021. These are also scheduled for the SUPER refresh. AMD has been doing the same in terms of production, so a rise in GPU prices seems unlikely.

There are a few regions where prices have not seen any decline even months later, but this is mainly due to the local retailers and distributors setting their own rates in a bid to earn some last-minute profits.

But the ‘LHR’ series has made a dent in the prices of GPUs, as they are not a viable option for cryptocurrency miners. Gamers are also reluctant to buy cards with high price tags, so these two forces in combination are encouraging retailers to lower the prices on graphics cards.

It seems AMD’s Radeon RX 6700 XT and Radeon RX 6900 XT have the best availability, while the RX 6800 and RX 6800 XT have the worst availability. Most NVIDIA GPUs are available in decent quantities, but the RTX 3060 Ti still has poor availability across the globe. This could be chalked down to it being the most affordable and last of the non-LHR NVIDIA cards in the market.
