The coronavirus pandemic has had long-lasting effects on the anime and manga industry. Apart from the frequent breaks, many were postponed until a later date.
The creators and staff felt the need to employ newer means of production to adapt to the circumstances.
Nocturne Boogie is a short anime series that is produced by remote work, and its production procedure is entirely different from the traditional anime.
According to the official website of the anime, Nocturne Boogie will air on GyaO! and Youtube on 10th July 2020, from 23:00 (JST).
The animation is one of a kind as it’s production procedure is fully remote.
A method called “extraction recording” is used to record the voices of the cast. It is a method that allows individual recording even during conversational scenes.
The voice actors involved with the anime have all supported this new kind of work.
The plot of the short anime series revolves around housemates who live together, but each has their own secrets. The apartment houses beings from fantasy stories.
The characters and cast members are:
- Mari Yumenaka (by Asami Seto): A naive succubus who believes in romance magazines.
- Mariya Kyūketsu ( by Seiichiro Yamashita): A vampire who is over 300 years old.
- Rui Okami (by Hitomi Yoshida): A model who is also a werewolf.
- Kiyoshi Orai ( by Yuuto Suzuki): A Jiangshi who dreams of hitting it big.
- Tamako Idoyana (by Saori Hayami): A website photographer who uses filters on her photos to make them less creepy.
- Shu Kageyama (by Tsuyoshi Koyama): The only normal human amongst all others, however, he is a monster hunter.
Morita and Junpei created the script and are directing the anime and Yusuke Shirato is the music composer.
The anime also offers advertisement opportunities; the rates start from 1000 yen.
