One of the community’s biggest franchises, it is no surprise that it already had 2 OVAs and is now getting an anime series of its own.

Let’s discuss the release date, cast, and visuals of the upcoming season in detail.

1. Release Date

It was announced at Comic-Con Seoul 2019 that an anime adaptation of the series was in production.

Noblesse is set to premiere on October 8th, 2020. Production I.G will be animating the series as the previous OVA, and Crunchyroll will stream it internationally.

The cast and staff from the OVA will be returning to reprise their roles. But what will be the plot? Is it a sequel? Will people like it?? Let’s calm down and analyze the show.

2. Theory Section

Noblesse’s central character, Raizel, has many fans in the community. Even if it has been a decade since he was introduced, his popularity continues to grow.

Let’s get into this article to see what will influence the making of ‘Noblesse.’

I. Popularity of the Franchise

The manhwa on Webtoon has been read by more than 15 million people and translated into 30 languages other than English.

The series is extremely popular and is frequently believed to be the very best on the site. It also made the makers of Fantasy War Tactics, the mobile game, to add five characters from Noblesse as heroes.

The series also had two video animations made in 2015-16, let’s talk about those.

II. Noblesse OVAs

Studio Animal, a South Korean animation studio, animated a 37-minute OVA in 2015, but it was not as popular as its successor.

The second OVA, Noblesse: Awakening, was made in 2016 by Production I.G and streamed on Crunchyroll and YouTube.

It became extremely popular amongst the fans, and surprisingly it is said that it covers the first season of the manhwa.

III. Fan Reactions

The OVA did a good job of attaining fans for the manhwa. Though the readers of the manhwa were hesitant to say anything more than okay.

Even if the animation and action were good, the OVA was too short. It left the fans hanging for more.

The story, art, and animation have the viewers completely hooked and begging for a full anime adaptation that is more than just 30ish minutes.

With the announcement of a new anime, the fans’ hope has been revived after four years.

IV. Is It a Season 1 or a Sequel?

When Crunchyroll first streamed Noblesse: Awakening, it was stated that it covered the first season of the manhwa.

The director of the of Noblesse, who also directed the 2016 OVA, later stated that the OVA is the episode zero of the franchise.

Therefore, even though we don’t know what the upcoming anime is going to cover, we can speculate that the events take place after the OVA.

Noblesse could also recap the OVA in the first few episodes to give a proper introduction of the show, but we can only know till October.

Let’s theorize the events until then.

3. Expected Plot

In the world of nobles, there is a lord whose duty is to lead the nobles, and there is Noblesse whose duty is to protect the nobles with his mighty strength.

The lord represents authority, and the Noblesse represents power. The Noblesse, who slept for 820 years has awakened, unfortunately, with no knowledge about the modern world.

With the help of Frankenstein, his loyal servant, he attends high school and attempts to make friends.

But evil still follows Raizel doggedly behind his steps, and inevitably his friends are in mortal danger.

The story tells about their adventures against the supernatural forces, Raizel and his mysterious past, and the mystery of ramen that got the Noblesse hooked.

So how do these supposedly mysterious vampires look like?

The PV reveals fast action animation with multiple characters amongst gunfire. The video is a riot and the fans’ expectations are an all-time high.

With an epic music score in the background, we can say that this is an excellent action thriller with hints of comedy.

What was that about epic music?? We are just getting there!

5. OVA Music and Animation

I. Animation Quality

The animation was well-done, fluid motions, and great battle choreography. It is fast-paced, as expected from a video only 30-minutes long, but the studio did good in trying to pack as much as possible.

The backgrounds and art were satisfying on ASMR levels. The beautiful characters really bring out the bishonen effect that the audience needs to see.

II. Theme Songs

Being an OVA, it has no particular theme song as such, but the piano that plays in the beginning sets up the supernatural atmosphere.

The BGM fits the story as it plays in particular scenes but we need some good old rock music as an episode finisher.

6. Fan Expectations for Upcoming Season

The reaction to the news that Noblesse would be adapted into an anime was fantastic.

Many people have been waiting for this news for years, but a few are concerned that a quickly-adapted series could be disappointing for hardcore fans.

Noblesse: Awakening crammed 70 chapters in a half an hour episode, and the disappointment was huge.

With a probably 13-episode season (Tower of God and The God of High School both released 13 episodes each), the fans can have a good, well-paced anime season as compared to the OVA.

But there have been debates on those adaptations concerning the pacing too. Though the anime is well animated and delivered in a grand way, the Webtoon fans were not happy.

May it be with the plot content or the intricate details the studio removed to fit into the 13-episode category.

So, there remains a slight possibility for Noblesse to receive the same treatment as well.

The manhwa has garnered a lot of attention in the past few years and the upcoming anime will not let down the fans.

7. Noblesse: Awakening

Long ago lived the nobles, an ancient race of immortal supernatural beings. They were revered as rulers and gods.

Among the nobles was the Noblesse, a powerful individual shrouded in mystery named Cadis Etrama di Raizel, or Rai.

Upon awakening in South Korea after an 820-year-long sleep, Rai sets to find his loyal and devoted servant, Frankenstein, whom he discovers to be the current director of Ye Ran High School.

In his wish to learn more about modern civilization, Rai enrolls as a student to better experience life in the modern world.

Noblesse: Awakening details the beginning of Rai’s new life as a high school student as he spends time with friends and fights threats both human and supernatural to prevent their schemes from harming Korea.

He is yet to become close to his new friends, but he has to go up against a secret organization to uncover the truth about his past.
