Webtoons or manhwa are Korean comics that are serialized on online websites.
Unlike manga, webtoons are mostly colourful and are digital comic books instead of physical ones. In recent times, Webtoons have gained massive popularity not only in Korea but in other foreign countries as well.
Tower of God and The God Of Highschool are two webtoons which have been adapted into anime series.
Both the manhwas have a huge fanbase, and the animes were produced as Crunchyroll Originals. With the upcoming release of Noblesse, the anime spotlight is gradually falling on webtoons.
A new visual for the Noblesse anime has been revealed by Crunchyroll.
The visual shows Raizel glowing with his powers. He is flanked by other characters like Frankenstein, Seira, Muzaka, and more. The visual is set in the background of night, and that attaches an eerie feeling to the whole atmosphere.
Noblesse will premiere exclusively on Crunchyroll this October. The anime was first announced in 2019, and it is animated by Production I.G (Psycho-Pass, Ghost in the Shell).
The Noblesse webtoon ran from 2007 – 2019 on the Naver Webtoon service.
It had gained 2 billion views. It was finally decided to be adapted as an anime series, even though anime is mostly reserved for adapting Japanese manga.
Crunchyroll has released a trailer for the upcoming anime series.
The trailer shows some detailed action scenes and gives a glimpse into the background of Rai, an eternal weapon.
This eternal weapon has to adapt to the present world after a long sleep and gets admitted to highschool. The trailer also shows us the cute side of the otherwise mysterious Rai.
Both Tower of God and The God Of Highschool anime have been adapting numerous chapters into a single episode. This has resulted in a lot of details from the manhwa being edited out.
Fans fear that Noblesse might get the same treatment. We hope that the anime adaptation does Noblesse justice!
Noblesse will be available to stream on Crunchyroll in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS.
About Noblesse
This series, released in 2007, is by Son Jeho and illustrator Lee Kwangsu. The story is about a nobleman named Cadis Etrama Di Raizel.
One day, shockingly, he wakes up over 800 years in the future. Reunited with his companion Frankenstein, Rai enrolls in a local high school and makes friends with a group who vow to help Rai uncover his forgotten past.
This announcement is exciting for South Koreans. South Korea has produced dozens of world-famous manhwa titles, but they never get an anime adaptation.
Now, fans will have to wait and see how these manhwa titles shape up in anime form and whether they’ll spark a trend of manhwa-turned-anime adaptations.
