It’s official Brina-fans. Our favourite teen fantasy on Netflix is coming to an end. Netflix has cancelled the show and it will conclude when its fourth part releases later this year.
Confirming the news, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa thanked Netflix for the chance to lead the live-action adaptation. There will be no new episodes afterwards.
Based on the Archie Comics character of the same name, Sabrina is a half-human, half-witch resident of Greendale where she lives with her coven of witches and warlocks.
Her father is the great devil himself and she is the next queen of hell except she doesn’t want to be all that but just a normal human teenager.
What ensues is her struggle with the two worlds she cohabits with her human friends and magical family so as to choose one or the other or, if possible, both.
Add to that some horror and some more occult and you have the fantasy show of my dreams! Not even kidding.
However, Netflix ain’t impressed by anything but ratings, views and reviews I guess. The show has been cancelled after four seasons and I am not the only one shocked.
Fans of Brina were particularly furious at Sabrina’s sister teen drama Riverdale (near Greendale), although much more human, continues unabated.
Based on the original comic Sabrina The Teenage Witch, the Netflix version had so much more gore and occult with the perfect touch of insanity saving the night. Kernan Shipka shone through in her impeccable platinum white locks as Sabrina.
The cast also includes Miranda Otto, Lucy Davis, Ross Lynch, Michelle Gomez, Chance Perdomo, Jaz Sinclair, Richard Coyle, Tati Gabrielle, Adeline Rudolph, Abigail Cowen, Lachlan Watson, Bronson Pinchot, and Gavin Leatherwood.
In the last part, Sabrina will be once more faced with larger evils threatening her Spellman family, the coven and her human friends.
All this even as she is going through two back to back rather difficult breakups. Just the kind of drama you need on a rainy day, eh?!
Are you a Brina fan? Are you too shocked to hear Sabrina has been cancelled! Comment below and let us know. (You’ll need an account to comment so please get one because I need people to tell they’re as sad as I am with Brina’s departure and I don’t do Twitter or Instagram. *sigh*)
