Discussing the Switch’s success, Nintendo’s President Shuntaro Furukawa talked about adopting a cautious approach. There are not many companies in the world that can go on to say that they are doing as well as Nintendo.
But despite such heavy sales, Furukawa wants to avoid a “nosedive” with the Switch.
In an interview with Nikkei Business, Shuntaro Furukawa said,
“Currently, the Switch’s sales are exceedingly favorable, and achievements are also good, but I have zero peace of mind,”

“Not matter the hits, in the entertainment business, people someday do lose interest. Up until now, we have repeatedly had the experience of our business taking a nosedive,”

When talking about a vigilant business model, President Furukawa must have indicated towards the unsuccessful release of the Wii U. With only 13.5 million units sold, Wii U is the second-worst selling console of all time.
Now, Nintendo Switch has dominated global charts and surprised everyone by touching new heights. But now, the console has entered its “middle phase.” Therefore, Furukawa wants to strive for improvement to avoid a “nosedive” in an ever-changing business environment.

It seems like Nintendo is backing their words through actions. A new and improved Switch is expected to release soon. This would be a “new surprise” for customers and will definitely entice people to invest in improved technology.
