Next Assassin’s Creed Title Is Reportedly Further Away than You Think

Given that Assassin’s Creed Infinity is currently in early development, it’s highly unlikely that fans will get a taste of this live-service title anytime soon. This, ultimately, engendered a massive break in Ubisoft’s schedule for Assassin’s Creed content.

It seems to plug this gap and ensure fans get a plethora of fun-filled Assassin’s Creed content; the studio is converting a planned AC Valhalla expansion into a standalone game. 

Codenamed Assassin’s Creed Rift, the rumored title will star Basim Ibn Ishaq from Valhalla as the protagonist and take players to Baghdad. The word on the street also suggests that Rift will be smaller in scope than previous AC games, focus on stealth gameplay, and release in 2022.

But if recent leaks are anything to go by, then AC Rift’s launch window might be further away than what was initially reported.

As revealed by Colin Moriarty of the Sacred Symbols podcast, who is well-known for his PlayStation scoops, AC Rift will launch in the first two months of 2023 instead of late 2022.

Since there was no mention of the next AC game in Ubisoft’s most recent investors call, Moriarty’s coverage might be accurate here. But at the same time, there’s also a chance that AC Rift was not brought up because it is yet to be announced.

At the time of writing, the only upcoming game that Ubisoft has officially confirmed is the live-service AC Infinity, but we have already established it’s not coming anytime soon. 

As for what Moriarty said about Rift, remember to take it with a pinch of salt. While the leaker in question has proven his reliability time after time, it doesn’t change the fact that what we’re broaching here is unofficial news that can be proven inaccurate at any time.
