It’s the season of joy and cheer, Christmas is less than 10 days away, and everyone is getting into the festive spirit. This includes the people over at Amazon Game Studio, as they have finally launched the much-awaited Winter Convergence Festival in their MMO, New World.
The Winter Convergence Festival is now active on all live servers after being tested on the New World Public Test Realm (PTR) earlier this month.
This will be the first significant event in the game and will be the player’s first time witnessing Christmas in Aeternum, along with all the goodies it brings. The Festival will be active from December 16th to January 11th, giving players ample time to try out the new additions.
New World players will be gathering Winter Tokens from events placed all over Aeternum and hand them over to the Winter Wanderer – a giant yeti.
These Tokens can be used as currency to purchase “rare and cosmetic items” from a temporary holiday shop. There are also “new armors, weapons, furnishing, skins, consumables, and a delightful “present gifting” emote” that can be unlocked during this event.
Another way to celebrate the Winter Convergence is by completing some festive Town Projects, resulting in settlements upgrading their holiday decorations and providing players with some gifts for their efforts.
Venturing beyond the settlements, players can retrieve Lost Presents from Frigid Folk. These can be exchanges for Winter Tokens at the Winter Village Holiday Huts found across Aeternum. New Ice Caves will also appear throughout the map. Amazon has confirmed these Caves will remain in the game even after the Festival has ended.
A new dynamic event has also been introduced – Gleamite Showers. These can occur at night and are a great time to harvest crystals that can be exchanged for more Winter Tokens. Seven new quests have been added to the game. Players at level 25 or higher can accept these, but finishing all of them will require a level 60 character.
The event’s launch was quite sudden, especially considering Amazon Game Studio had mentioned the event, along with the December update, would be delayed. It’s good news for fans, though, as they have new content to enjoy and hopefully will keep them happy, giving the studio time to fix the many issues present in New World.
