Amazon’s popular MMORPG New World has been around for a few years now. The company has been sincerely dedicated to making the game more engaging for its players by adding new weapons, redesigning combat, the crafting economy, and more. Looks like that’s not the end of new content for the open-world MMO.
New World is switching to a seasonal format on March 28th, which will deliver more frequent content like new features, gameplay experiences and the most exciting of all, a season pass with two separate reward tracks– free and premium.
The season pass for New World looks simple to navigate. Players will earn seasonal XP by completing different activities as they progress through the game. There are 100 levels in the game, and players can unlock various rewards as they climb up the levels.
Season XP can also be earned through quests, faction missions, small town projects, expedition bosses, and other minor in-game activities.
Every season will last for around three months and will introduce “new limited-time premium track rewards like cosmetics.” The season pass will be valid for multiple characters in the same world/region. Rewards can only be unlocked once per season, but they can be claimed on any character that has unlocked the Premium Rewards Track at level 25.
“Players [who have reached level 25] can opt-in to the Premium Track at any point during the Season and will retroactively receive all eligible rewards… At the end of the Season any unearned, unique seasonal rewards will be vaulted.”

The new Seasonal Challenges will be the most difficult objective of every season. These will also come with high-level rewards, an Activity Stamp Card, and a Season Journey which is open for players on level 25 or above.
The Activity Stamp Card offers season XP to players for completing certain tasks during daily play. Meanwhile the Season Journey divides each season’s story into chapters and offers rewards for completing chapter-based tasks.
Amazon also shared the 2023 roadmap for New World which gives us an insight into the studio’s future plans for the MMO game.
Amazon hopes that by updating New World on a “predictable three-month cadence,” there will be a significant boost in player count which might have dwindled over the past year. As compared to popular MMO titles like World of Warcraft or Final Fantasy 14, New World lags behind with 20,000 active participants.
