Amazon’s first MMORPG game, New World, was initially a popular hit among players. However, the game eventually lost participants due to fewer endgame activities, tedious grinding, and boring combat sequences. Amazon has since put in resources to improve the game by bringing in new weapons, endgame content, redesigned combat, and the crafting economy to enhance the gaming experience.
The next major update for New World will introduce the highly requested greatswords, a revamped starting experience, a desert-themed zone called the Brimstone Sands, balance adjustments, and bug fixes.
The update is planned for the Public Test Realm and is still in development. The changelog also mentions adding new enemies, significant locations, and characters.
The new starting experience will optimize the quest flow with NPCs who move around, helping eliminate the back-and-forth tedium.
New quest workings like wave events, tracking and traversal challenges, puzzles, and dynamic events will take place during the new story thread that takes players around each game region.
The greatsword is one of the most requested weapons. It will be a two-handed weapon that uses different stances to adapt to various situations, along with an Onslaught skill tree focused on offensive power and a Defiance skill tree for survival and fighting strength. The upgradable Heartgems will be an ultimate ability after being charged through various actions in combat.
The desert zone, Brimstone Sands, will bring a unique wasteland theme consisting of Egyptian pyramids and the remnants of the missing Roman 19th Legion.
The PTR also listed several minor changes, additions, and adjustments with a New World patch. Players can participate by installing “New World Public Test Realm” in their Steam libraries and logging into the PTR client.
New World is currently available for PC.
