New World features several endgame events where even a max-level player can barely survive and make it through the endgame location because of the absurdly powerful monsters who have the strength to one-shot most of the players. But it is just impossible to stay away from such areas because of the tempting loot and legendary gear they offer. One such endgame location is Myrkgard.
Myrkgard is located in the northernmost region of Shattered Mountain in New World. It is home to numerous corrupted elite monsters and holds several T4-T5 chests that could drop legendary gears with a possible 600 gear score.
Entering the Myrkgard Zone in New World
As Myrkgard is an endgame location, most of the enemies present in this region are level 65+. In any case, it is recommended to venture into this corrupted territory with at least a party of five 55+ level players.
There are two different entrances into Myrkgard, one to the left and another to the right. An immensely strong corrupted ogre guards both of these points with an arsenal of several hard-hitting moves like an AoE vortex and a giant death ball.
If you have fewer players in your party, you can sprint past the ogres to take the high ground and fight from a better position, but 5-6 players can take these creatures down in direct combat. I recommend you to take the right entrance as it is closer to the final boss and comparatively easier to deal with.
If you can’t find your way into Myrkgard or Myrkgard Cathedral, follow the Path to Myrkgard Arena quest to get access.
Best Gear and Strategy for Clearing Myrkgard
A location like Myrkgard is still tough to deal with a single party, so players must have two parties (10 players) while attempting to clear this location for best results. The location is packed with corrupted enemies like ogres, commanders, bears, and priests, all of them are hard to deal with, but you must actively avoid the commanders and bears because of their crushing AoE blows.
As all the enemies in Myrkgard are of the corrupted element, they are vulnerable to thurst, nature, and arcane damage. Weapons like a spear, rapier, fire staff, life staff, etc., are essential, or you can choose to socket Amber or Sapphire gem into your weapons to get the desired elemental damage.
Myrkgard has a couple of campfire checkpoints inside and outside of the location where you can put down your camp, which will act as a respawn point for you. Place your camps here, so you don’t have to run all the way back in case you get absolutely destroyed by the enemies.
Check every corner of Myrkgard thoroughly because this place is brimming with high-tier loot and T4-T5 loot chests, which no one wants to miss.
Pro Tip: Consumables are the key – Make sure all the party members have a decent stock of potions, food buffs, and tinctures like Common Corruption Tincture.
Taking Down and Farming the Archmagister!
Myrkgard is home to several powerful bosses. You want to take down bosses like Archmagister Vocus near the Opulence and Artifex Faetum in the Upper Hollow as they drop some really incredible loot.
The Archmagister is a level 65 boss, but a party of 5-6 high-level players with enough consumables should have no trouble dealing with him. Several priests and guards defend the Archmagister, and your party has to brute force your way to the boss through these “minions.”
Just make sure no one dies during this fight as the boss has a short respawning timer which could prove devastating even if a single party member dies.
Here are some of the possible (500-600) gear drops from Archmagister:
- Token of The Marked Man (Jewelry, Earring)
- Archmagister’s Piscatory Ring (Jewelry, Ring)
- Living Crystal Life Staff (Weapon, Life Staff)
- Unholy Silence of the Ranger (Armor, Medium Headwear)
- Vengeful Fisherman’s Smock (Armor, Medium Chestwear)
