New World Delayed so Closed Beta Feedback Can be Incorporated

The New World closed beta had launched in late July and has been exceptionally well received, according to initial reviews. It recently also gained 200,000 concurrent players on Steam and, thanks to word of mouth and several content creators raving about the game, it even peaked the Steam Top Sellers list last weekend.

New World by Amazon Games is an MMORPG that combines elements of action-adventure games and traditional MMORPGs, which you can imagine is a crossing point for many gamers. And many seem to love what they’ve played so far, the positive sentiment increasing New World‘s player base every day.

But it hasn’t been a perfect ride for the game either. Players encountered an issue with high-end RTX 3090 video cards, which created quite a panic in the player base until it was narrowed down to EVGA’s fan drivers.

But other issues have been popping up during the closed beta, which has led the development team to reconsider the August 31st launch date.

We are humbled by the support New World received from players around the world throughout Closed Beta. During beta, more than a million adventurers played more than 16 million total hours.

The studio went on to say,

Along the way, you’ve also given us a ton of feedback that we’ll use to make New World even better. We want New World‘s launch to be a smooth and fun experience for all players, and that means making some improvements based on what you encountered during Closed Beta. So we’re going to take a few extra weeks to smash bugs, improve stability, and polish the game.

So, New World will now be launching on September 28th, marking the second delay for the game. But given the game’s popularity during the closed beta, we doubt even a couple of months’ delay will hamper the game’s meteoric rise.

New World is an upcoming massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) by Amazon Games set to be released on August 31, 2021. The game was previously scheduled to release in May 2020 but was delayed to its current date.

Set in the mid-1600s, players colonize a fictional land known as Aeternum Island, modeled after North and South Americas in the Atlantic Ocean. The game will be using a buy-to-play business model, meaning there will be no monthly subscription fee.
