When it comes to retro anime and magical girls, no one can beat Sailor Moon. The series has been on top for a long time and will always reign over the genre.
Considering that the series has been in the business for a while, the story extends to other solar systems too. This means there’s much more waiting for the girls and us to deal with, and it is adapted in the franchise’s upcoming film series.
The latest trailer for the Sailor Moon Cosmos anime film series introduces the Sailor Starlights, the Sailor Guardians of the planet Kinmoku.
Besides that, the video also confirms the films’ 2023 release dates of June 9 for part 1 and June 30 for part 2.
Sailor Starlights are Sailor Guardians from another solar system and consist of Sailor Star Fighter (leader), Sailor Star Maker, and Sailor Star Healer. They are searching for their planet’s princess, Kakyuu, who fled to Earth after the Shadow Galactica destroyed Kinmoku.
Kinmoku’s Sailor Guardians come to Earth in search of Princess Kakyuu and disguise themselves as a group of male idols to not look suspicious. Their songs talk about finding their princess and hope that the music reaches her and they can meet again.
However, since the Starlights are from another solar system, they need help from the Sailor Moon crew. Usagi and the girls agree to assist their new friends while learning about the threat of the Shadow Galactica and Sailor Galaxia.
In addition, the franchise has also revealed the cast members for Sailor Starlights, and they’re as follows:
Character | Cast | Other Works |
Seiya Kō/Sailor Star Fighter | Marina Inoue | Armin Arlelt (Attack on Titan) |
Taiki Kō/Sailor Star Maker | Saori Hayami | Shinobu Kocho (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) |
Yaten Kō/Sailor Star Healer | Ayane Sakura | Ochaco Uraraka (My Hero Academia) |
Sailor Moon Cosmos will adapt the story’s final arc and end the beloved Sailor Moon franchise. So, the hopes and expectations from this one are high.
Those who have read the manga know exactly what’s coming, and I honestly can’t wait for the chaos it will cause in theaters.
