New Tenchi Muyo! GXP Sequel “Paradise Begins Arc” Officially Announced!

Tenchi Muyo! – a popular science fiction anime series by Masaki Kajishima, has been premiering since the 90s with different stories. The franchise now also includes several light novel and manga series. With the last OVA series ending in 2021, a new anime series has been announced.

On Friday, the media company EXNOA announced a new anime adaptation on their newly-launched official website. The title of the series would be “Tenchi Muyo! GXP – Paradise Begins Arc”.

Masaki Kajishima has designed the teaser visual for the upcoming series. It would also commemorate thirty years of the franchise. The first animated series, Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki was released in 1992 as a six-episode OVA series.

While the original OVA series continued in the form of four sequel OVA series, it also branched out to several spin-offs, including the 2002 anime Tenchi Muyo! GXP and the 2009 anime Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar.

The upcoming “Paradise Begins Arc” will be the sequel to the GXP series and will also be connected to the fourth and fifth Ryo-Ohki OVA series. EXNOA’s production studio, KINEMATICS, will be helming the series. Masaki Kajishima will be the supervising director, with Hideki Shirane working on the scripts.

Shirane has also worked on the 2002 GXP anime and the last two Ryo-Ohki series. Now that we know that Seina Yamada would return for new adventures, we can expect more details related to the upcoming anime soon.

About Tenchi Muyo! GXP – Paradise Begins Arc

Tenchi Muyo! GXP – Paradise Shido-hen is a spin-off of the original Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki OVA series by Masaki Kajishima. Kajishima will be the supervising director of the series, with KINEMATICS as the producing studio.

The story will feature Seina Yamada, the down-to-luck protagonist from the 2002 Tenchi Muyo! GXP series who inadvertently gets recruited to the Galaxy Police.
