Ichika Hoshino’s race against time to uncover the truth will begin next month when the two-part Collar x Malice anime film comes out. There has not been much news about it lately; but now that the release date is closer, we were sure to get something new.
On Monday, the official website for the two Gekijoban Collar x Malice Deep Cover films shared a teaser trailer and a new key visual. The films are scheduled for opening on May 26 and June 23, respectively.
The teaser above gives a first look at the characters in the film. It introduces the main characters, including Ichika, Aiji, and the newly introduced Mitsuru Sowa. In the end, the release dates are mentioned.
The music playing in the background is the opening theme, “Ningen×Shikkaku” (No Longer×Human) by Kizu. The band has also performed the ending songs – “Nemuranai Machi” (City That Never Sleeps) for Part 1 and “Jūhachi” (Eighteen) for Part 2.
In the visual, Ichika and Aiji are in the center, with the other characters in the background. The two are holding handguns, with chains around Ichika’s neck.
Kaede Hondo will voice Ichika, who was unvoiced in the Collar x Malice game. The rest of the voice cast is also returning from the game. As for Mitsuru Sowa, it is voiced by Katsuyuki Konishi.
The animation looks good enough, almost close to what Nier Automata Ver1.1a showed. Wait, isn’t comparing Studio DEEN with A-1 Pictures giving a déjà vu feeling?
About Gekijoban Collar x Malice Deep Cover Part 1
Gekijoban Collar x Malice Deep Cover is a two-part anime film based on the otome visual novel game Collar x Malice by Otomate (a brand of Idea Factory). It features a side story happening on the other side of the X-Day Incident.
The 2016 game tells the story of Ichika Hoshino, a rookie police officer in Shinjuku who gets attacked and the assaulters place a poisonous collar around her neck. She later gets involved with five former police officers, who are investigating the X-Day Incident, a series of murders done by a terrorist group.
