Mantic Games announces new tabletop Halo game, Releasing in September

Despite what many people expected, Halo Infinite had a rocky start when it was launched back in 2021. One of the most disappointing elements of the game was its lack of a campaign, something which has been around since the very beginning of Halo. That was the lore of the latest entry in the Halo franchise. Luckily, there’s something interesting brewing over at 343 Industries.

343 Industries and Mantic Games have joined hands to make a tabletop game for Halo. The currently untitled project will offer a unique way to enjoy the Halo experience, complete with mini Spartans. Previews for it will begin in March with the final launch scheduled for September.

The combat tabletop Halo game will be something to look out for. Mantic Games’ CEO Ronnie Renton revealed that he is extremely happy with the game and hopes that it will be fun for players.

“Having a firefight play out on the table while moving Spartans in and out of cover connects players to the action in a new and special way. We have a thrilling and competitive game, from a passionate team of talented sculptors, artists, and designers who have been building an incredible Halo experience.”

Video games and tabletop games go hand in hand. Several major video games have been adapted into tabletop games or the vice versa. Cyberpunk 2077 was based on Mike Pondsmith’s Cyberpunk 2020 and Baldur’s Gate 3 is basically Dungeons & Dragons.

The upcoming game will not be the first Halo tabletop game ever to be made. Back in 2007, WizKids Inc. launched the Halo ActionClix which featured Spartans, UNSC force battle vehicles and aliens. Sadly, the tabletop game was discontinued in 2008, just a year after its launch.

Although an exact date has not been announced, the game will hit retail stores in September 2024. Hopefully, we might get a release date after the preview. However, 343 Industries and Mantic Games are yet to reveal the details of the previews for the Halo tabletop game.

Halo Infinite is an upcoming first-person shooter game developed by 343 Industries and published by Xbox Game Studios.

It is the sixth entry in the series and serves as a re-imagining of the franchise, with new features, mechanics and gameplay elements. As for the story, it is going to be a direct continuation of Master Chief’s story from Halo 5: Guardians, in his “greatest adventure yet to save humanity!”

The game was originally cited to be released alongside the upcoming Xbox Series consoles but has since been delayed to 2021.
