Known for its controversies more than its story, The Irregular at Magic High School is a story of an overpowered MC who is “cool” and emotionless. The anime has magic, futuristic weapons, and controversial characters.
This anime had incredible potential, but it fell behind due to its *ahem* incestuous relationship. Tatsuya and Miyuki exhibit a weird sibling relationship which has disgusted many people.
However, anime is mediocre if we ignore this “small” detail. This anime has two seasons, and a new sequel has been announced, commemorating its tenth anniversary.
The official website of The Irregular at magic high school anime announced that the previously announced sequel would be airing next year. A promotional video and teaser visual have been released along with this announcement.
The new promotional video features Tatsuya and Miyuki. The animation looks great, and fans are excited about this improvement. Unfortunately, there is no concrete release window for the anime yet.
Original character designer Kana Ishida drew the teaser visual featuring Tatsuya, Miyuki, and Minami.
Jimmy Stone, who has previously worked as the series’ assistant director, will replace the original director. Here’s the list of staff that will be working on the anime.

The finale of Season 2 showcased immense growth in Tatsuya. When presented with a choice to keep himself or others safe, he chose to risk his life for others and protect them from the New Breed Front.
This anime is a hit or a miss; if you don’t mind the problematic relationships between the characters, you should give this series a go. However, skip the series if you cannot stomach the low-key incestuous relationship between the siblings.
About The Irregular at Magic High School
The Irregular at Magic High School is based on a web novel series by Tsutomu Sato, published on an internet web novel website between 2008 and 2011.
The series is set in a world with an alternate history, where magic exists and has been polished through modern technology. However, the ability to use magic is determined by genetics, limiting the number of magicians in existence.
The story follows Tatsuya Shiba, a bodyguard to his sister Miyuki Shiba who is also a candidate to succeed in the leadership of the Yotsuba clan, one of the Ten Master Clans that govern Japan’s magicians.
They enroll into First High School which segregates its students based on their magical abilities. Miyuki is enrolled as a first course student and is viewed as one of the best students, while Tatsuya is in the second course and considered to be magically inept.
