Games based on anime are not the latest trend, but it always excites fans. The game and anime industry have always been tightly bound, to the point that games influence anime adaptations as well. Well, who doesn’t know about the famous Pokémon franchise?
Spike Chunsoft, the video game development company, has announced the development of a new game based on the Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World franchise. The title of the game is Re:Zero – False King Candidate.
The game will be available for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and is scheduled for release in winter 2020.
Author Tappei Nagatsuki was also involved in the storyline of the game. Shinichirou Otsuka has developed the illustrations for the characters.
The plot will concentrate on the original storyline of the first season of the anime but with new twists. It is a “tactical adventure” game, and there will be other options as well to explore the plot.
It is a single-player game, and its retail price has not been revealed yet. Amazon UK has listed the game, which is due this year. It also has a plethora of new characters to choose from.
The game includes in-game English texts and English and Japanese in-game voices. Thus the game is good news for both Japanese and global fans.

About Re:Zero
The story follows Subaru Natsuki, a homebody who wakes up in a fantasy world on his way home from the convenience store. Meeting a silver-haired elf named Satella, he decides to help her on her journey to recover a stolen item.
After the two are mysteriously killed, Subaru wakes up to realize that he had gone back to the point when he first entered the world.
Realizing he has a new power called “Return by Death,” which sends him back in time every time he dies, Subaru decides to use this new power to try and make a better life for himself in this world with the mysterious silver-haired elf.
