New Pro Hero Fat Gum, the BMI Hero and his sketch

My Hero Academia is inching towards one of its most influential arcs so far, The Shie Hassaikai Arc. With its latest episode, the series has introduced yet another character, which the audiences have apparently fallen in love with.

Episode 68 of the series, titled “Let’s Go, Gutsy Red Riot”, shows us Kirishima attending his work studies under the pro hero Fat Gum. It had been a while since the fans had seen Kirishima in the limelight; however, Fat Gum’s character stole the show with his friendly personality and his unforgiving strength.

Fat Gum is known as the BMI hero and his hero ability goes hand in hand with that name, he gets his powers from his fat. Fat Gum has enhanced durability and strength, as a side effect of his quirk: Fat Absorption. His quirk allows the Hero to absorb almost anything into his fat which traps it.

He can also use his powers to convert his fat reserves into brute strength but up to a specific limit. The character is voiced by JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure veteran Kazuyuki Okitsu in Japanese, and by Dragon Ball Super veteran Kyle Hebert in its English Release.

It turns out that Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of the series, is also a fan of his creation as he recently released a sketch to celebrate the debut of this adorable Pro Hero.

Horikoshi shared a cute scene highlighting the working trio of Fat Gum, Tamaki Amajiki’s Sun-Eater, and Kirishima’s Red Riot. The trio is seen taking a food break in the middle of a working patrol.

Amajiki: “Let’s hurry and go back to work..”

Fat Gum: “Eating is work too!”

Kirishima (Impressed): “Oh, I See!”

With the special cast for this character’s voice actor and the cute sketch from the creator himself, it is evident that Fat Gum is going to stick around for the long run. He is likeable indeed.
